Bike Stalled And dropped

Clutch switch not operating, look underneath the lever and see the micro switch is not operated by the lever pin, as soon as this is set properly the problem goes away....... I checked at my dealers and many of the new bikes are affected.

How do you set it properly? Thanks!

I have the tuneboy tune which apparently disables the clutch switch when in 1st gear but I still am having problems.

Has anyone been able to confirm or verify it's definitely a problem with the clutch switch and if so what's the fix or adjustment process?

There are a multitude of things in the Panigale's electrical system that can cause anomalies from individual components to the harness itself. The factory cant even figure things out. My solution to it all is to just replace parts until it works. Trying to troubleshoot this .... storm of an electrical system isn't much fun.

Might not be so simple to replace any components under warranty. My headlight's case is typical example of new Ducati approach to its customer-first they found some problem and once it was claimed to be replaced under warranty they said I could leave with the issue and all should be fine...It just remind me words of Bob M. song-everything gonna be all right...Disappoined again

Hi guys, new here but have been on the ducati.ms forum for a while. I have been seriously looking at getting a 1299 Panigale S but after reading this and a couple other threads on this subject, I'm not sure. Does anyone know if Ducati ever recognized this issue? Do all 1299s have this problem regardless of year? Thanks guys.

In over 2k miles my Anniversario has never stalled or acted like it's going to stall.

Maska, your headlight hasn't been replaced because there's nothing wrong with it. Everybody has the faint clicking and flickering lights with key off for 45 secs. Nobody mentions it because no one puts there face to their headlights when they turn their bike off. Get over it.

I've had REAL issues with my bike, not imaginary ones, and Ducati has taken care of me. Bike runs like a dream.

No problems here. It's best to buy a Tuesday-Thursday built bike. Stay away from the Monday and Friday bikes. This goes for any manufacturer.

Dear Ryfly05 sound like you are a Ducati representative or even their lawyer...you were tremendously lucky that your not 'imaginary' issue was solved in efficient and safe manner. How did you manage this?
You read but did not understand my post. Some issue was noticed by Ducati mechanics during my first oil service. The issue with headlight (never seen before and I have to highlighted that they know their job ) was claimed but it was rejected. Meantime Bologna mentioned that it might be a software issue...so is there a problem or not? What you reckon Ryfly05?

Ducati does not acknowledge there is a overall problem to my knowledge..(At least they have no bulletin on it or any type of published fix for it that I know of) A good reputable dealer will admit it but no matter how hard they try there is no fix if you are one of the unlucky ones and get a staller..
Mine rarely dies on me actually riding now. It used to a lot but I have gone through it and had the ECU THe throttle bodies and the throttle unit replaced.. Taken off the carbon canister and added a Rapid Bike tuning unit...
Mine mainly does it when it is sitting there warming up (more frequently) but sometimes it will also just shut off while taking off from a parking lot ...Total mystery why? I have just come to always expect it and be careful with the throttle and clutch..

Good luck if you decide on a purchase.. It can be a very exciting bike to ride and they are beautiful ...However personally, I would personally ride the ACTUAL bike you are goin to purchase for a while before signing on the line..
If it stalls (or surges like mine does) go to the next one on the showroom floor.. It will NOT get better with miles etc..
Just my opinion others may vary..

Speedy

Good luck getting Ducati to pay for the damage lol. Comical to think they will.
I've never dealt with a company who stands behind their product less than these people...

Lmao so a bike randomly stalling causing numerous people to fail isn't a "real" issue? It's just "imaginary"? In the words of the guy sitting at the bar in The Departed- what are you ....... ........ or something?

Just got my 600 mile service done on my 2016 1299 panigale a few days ago.. took it out for a ride today to the mall and to run some errands. I was pulling out of a parking lot when the bike stalled in 1st gear. i fully released the clutch at about 5-10 mph when the bike shut off completely. Because it was in gear it was a sudden stop that i couldn't do anything about and i dropped it.. This is probably the 6th time it happened to me only i was able to save it every time. I'm pretty ....... pissed about this because i took the bike to ducati to fix for this exact issue. Broke the mirror, scratched bar end and clutch cover. Brake lever pushed into fairing and went downwards scratching the fairing.

The shop was closed but the sales guys opened the shop up for me so i could leave it there. Ducati better ....... fix this for free and the issue because i'm not about to spend a penny on any of this. Had i dropped it on my own accord no big deal but this is a serious safety issue.. I did it on a busy street and lucky i didn't get hit by a car.

I understand your frustration. Mine did the same thing. It stalled out at will. Whenever it wanted. This is a huge problem with these bikes and Ducati is looking the other way. We all need to report this so that a recall is issued. Sorry this happened to you

I have a 1299 Anniversario and the stalling issue is a REAl thing. On top of that it also has cold start problems and bucks like no tomorrow under 5k rpm's. I had to spend a lot of money to correct the bikes quirks. Most importantly flashing the ECU with Brentuning and getting rid of the Evap canister. If you are not willing to put in the time and $ then just get a Japanese bike. They are bulletproof

i know this is months old but after threatening with lemon law and such i got a call from ducati themselves and they talked to me.. They took about 4 months to fix the bike and offered me a bunch of ducati credit money for the months of not being able to ride my bike.... The bike rides good now.. Just like my kawasaki maybe once every thousand miles it may have a small hiccup of turning off but all the electronics stay on now and only when the bike is cold. My kawasaki does the same thing every blue moon so i consider this normal. Ducati fixed the bike for free as well.. I talked to the master tech about the issues and he says he has no idea why it stopped because he was able to duplicate the issue. Said he changed the tuning to run richer but that's all he did. Bike purs beautifully and i've put about another 2k on it since i got it back. +1 for ducati fixing all my issues and keeping me as a customer. Could've been dealt with better but glad the issue could get resolved. Now i can ride it and trust it on the track.

These bikes run super lean down low due to emissions requirements. Running lean also makes them run hot.

Once I did the the Rexxer Reflash all low speed stalling STOPPED. when I First got the bike I stalled it 8 times. I hated my choice in the 1299 till I got the Rexxer Reflash. Motowheels in California took care of me for 350.00. I think I paid like 370-375 for second day return shipping. I hope this helps you guys

Stalling Issues

My 1299 did it twice early on, low speed in traffic, 1st gear & closed throttle. When the rear locks it's easy to drop it, sorry to hear you have damage.

I've not had the problem recur since Tuneboy was fitted and the bike mapped, IMO the bike wasn't fuelled correctly and the ECU wasn't quick enough to respond. Tend to keep the RPM higher now and slip the clutch when low speed. The spacer kit helps.

I did the Rexxer and now I can take off as easy as a Honda. Barley have to rev it now to get going. The Rexxer made it a Lovable bike. Before the Reflash I was like did I make the right choice in Motorcycle

Glad it's fixed but 4 months is way too long. After 30 days after them admitting fault, I would have told them to replace it with a 2017 and paid the up-charge of MSRP TO MSRP.

Always Always Always refer to your states lemon laws. Once your bike meets the presumption, repair attempts or days out of service, demand a replacement. Make sure you send the official demand letter to dealer and manufacturer. In most cases you don't need a lawyer to send the demand letter.

Some states it's really easy, some states do not consider bikes in the lemon laws.

In terms of the stalling, most of it is from a lean condition at low RPM and throttle position. Get a rexer, Rapid bike or Tuneboy tune.
