That's fine... the fact remains that there was clear film installed over top of it. It should have been removed before the visit

just noticed i got 2 small bubbles right under the first '1' of the 1199, going bk to dealer when i get time to have it sorted out, wonder what they will do/say...

no the stealership had this film comparison on the desk of the sales people i said what is that. they said its paint protection film. i said who installs it they said they have a guy to professionally install it. I had it installed and when my lower right fairing melted i needed a new piece for that fairing. Of course ducati wasnt going to pay for it they said it was after market. i said if your fairing didnt melt i wouldnt need it replaced.

the guy did me a favor and did it for free. he noticed on areas of the bike these little dots. he said i have clear coat failure. you have to realize the whole bike isnt wrapped its just sections much like the 3m stuff.

he took off the front nose film because when i added the winglets the front made a bubble in the film (much like if you had a screen protector on an iphone then put on a case) and said look failure here too. i said i noticed that before but thought it was the film. he said no its in the clear coat look. its extreamly hard to see and wont come out in pictures. my other friend owns a body shop. he matched my paint for touch up paint if i ever needed it. i can always have the bike repainted.

the ducati paint sucks period.

what does this mean?

It is nothing more then flaws in the paint.

It is not clear coat failure or you would have he whole panel trashed.

Flaws like this are normal in about 10% of paintjobs I see.


I don't even look at my bike that close, I ride it.


Bother me? probably a little, but my scratches and boo boos here and there will soon mask flaws. You hit a few bugs and get some dust on it from use, those flaws disappear.
