Video cut out, but the last couple laps were totally clean because people started pitting early. Had the freaking time of my life out there.

The guy with the white leathers is on a V4 R … and I had the speed and line to beat him to the Apex of 18 (and I was giving him 2 feet on the left side of the Apex marker anyways, just as a safety margin, thank goodness)

But as soon as he saw that he accelerated, which of course pushed him wide, I had to runoff track to avoid him. Then he slams on the brakes right before 19…!

I was passing that guy all freaking day and I think he was frustrated.

Lots of red flags 🚩 this weekend. Hope you guys all made it out unscathed!
On Saturday, the advance group had five of six sessions red flagged… they were coming back to the pits pretty pissed obviously.
Sunday was much better. I think we only had two red flags and they were the advance group again.

Saturday was crazy with red flags

Don’t know what are this guys trying to prove

I know anyone Can crash some times

But there were like 7 crashes in 5 sessions, it is a trackday, not the last race for the championship

ya it was wild man...never seen that many crashes before, and never all in one damn group...i got the feeling it was all ego out there....not good.

Wow that's nuts. I could understand if it was raining.
Does it get dusty and slippery? Thinking about MotoGP COTA this year was a crash fest as well. I heard it was temps changing and tires were wrong... But seemed a little mysterious how many went down.
Anyway looks like a wildly fun track!
Nice thread btw - coolbeans

Conditions can be sketchy but this weekend they were excellent. The crashes were group specific (5 of 6 sessions in advanced group were red flagged) and ego driven.

Track was perfect

Conditions were perfect

I think ridesmart should do laptimes,

I think anyone can sign up for advanced and can’t handel running at advanced pace, maybe put to much pressure and fall.

Really don’t know the reason for 7 crashes in 5 sessions of a friendly trackday

What makes it sketchy at times? Just curious. Here it's rain. It can be a gorgeous sunny day and then an afternoon tempest can show up and dump rain/ hail out of nowhere. Only April & May though and usually they are predicted, but if you're not watching the weather services, it's pretty surprising.

So people are guessing their skill level. Ya that can get weird. I see at other tracks they time everyone and reorganize by lap-times into categories. Morning runs can have a couple guys fast at other tracks then they're slow here so they make traffic jams. If so then they get bumped down a category. Other guys want to practice their passing so they sign up for slow groups and run the n00bs like cones, then get bumped up. I did that last wkend not on purpose. hahaha I got recommended a slower group because it was less crowded. It was great for confidence building. Then I got bumped up. ;P

@Vbreeze the worst thing about april and May are the showers that can creep up on you on one part of the track, and you dont even know it...you come around a corner and find wet pavement...then on next lap its dry again.

I dont agree that Ridesmart lets you pick the level. they are actually kinda strict about it. Ive seen a dozen people get kicked out of a track day weekend for unsafe practices and about 1/2 that number moved down a skill level if warranted.
hell this weekend, one of the instructors, basically called out a dude in front of the whole group: "This is NOT your damn track day homie, this is all of our track day! start showing some respect and courtesy or your day is done!"

boy he sure deserved it too...

My first track day with them, i called and talked to one of their instructors and gave a run down of my out of state experience, and was granted Intermediate group. But i dont think anyone that is new with Ridesmart gets a pass all the way to Advanced without at least a couple follow laps/evaluations.

Novice
INT
EXP
Advanced are the levels..

Sketchy conditions:

A bit cold
Really hot
Dirty track
Oil
To much wind
Moist or wet

Track and day was perfect

And yes, you choose your skill level, and no one bumps up or down.

My understanding of Ridesmart policy is that you can sign up for novice, intermediate, or experienced at your own discretion, but to ride A group (advanced) for the first time you have to get instructor approval. This involves receiving a PIN from an instructor and inputting that number in the online registration form. I think they’ll waive this requirement if you hold a current racing license. After you’ve ridden in A group at least once (without being demoted), subsequent registration doesn’t require approval or PIN entry.

Regarding bumps, I think initial bumps to A aren’t done the same day - if you get bumped up, you ride A the next track day. I have seen people bump up or down same day in the other groups.
