Commuting heat

I rode the 1198 and to me the 1199 was hotter in different areas. How many 1198 have you heard of catching fire? So far two 1199 we know of.

I think you are very correct. When bike is on fire I do believe heat could be a serious issue and would recommend not riding it.

With everyone talking about the intense heat from the engine, I am really getting worried. I am still waiting for the delivery of my dream bike (1199 of course!) and the concern of my balls getting cooked is getting stronger with every heating issues I read from you guys. You guys are either in the States or colder countries. I hail from Singapore and average ambient temp is about 30C, and can get as high as 35C.

My current ride is a MV Agusta 1078RR and the heat is really overwhelming. The bike cannot stop. Once stop, heat builds up really quick and I have had my inner thighs scalded red before I had a tank cover on.

Jeezzzz......

If it helps you, I don't have any heat issues. I ride with leathers almost every time though.

I commute real stop and go in Denver, been in the 90s most summer, and it's still fine. I did have new heat shield put on. And I wear leathers (with mesh) all the time. When I wore jeans heat was pretty rough. Though just in general I've realized that jeans are terrible at storing heat, regardless of the bike you're on. Part of the reason I've converted to all gear all the time.
