My dash failed at about 3,500 miles. Indication was that the right turn signal did not work (on the dash and at the signal) and the horn did not work. Anyway, I took it in to the dealer who diagnosed the problem as the ECU in the dash had failed. (There are five ECUs on this bike, one of which is in the dash.) Ducati replaced the dash/ECU under warranty, as they have for many others here.

2,000 miles later, the dash/ECU appeared to have failed again.Other functional issues in addition to those noted above included:
  1. Only the top bars of the red shift lights would show, kicking in at 11,000 RPM - and not building progressively as is the norm
  2. The tach did not show the typical orange highlights of the RPM beginning at 8,000 to the 11,500 redline
  3. I could not access the trip meter.
Anyway, while riding the bike yesterday I turned the bike off an on so things could reset, which it did for a few seconds, and then failed again before I could start the bike. The issues noted above continued for the remainder of the ride (which was cut short because the hydraulic clutch failed again).

I went back to the bike to see if there were any more issues for me to document, and wouldn't you know it, the dash/ECU appears to be fully functional. Nothing has changed since yesterday except the temperature of the bike.

So, it might be a poor battery connection; however, the connection is tight so I am not sure, but I will remove the battery charging leads put in last time I was in the shop in case that has anything to do with it.

Has anybody else had these issues, the replaced dash-ECU failing again?

Styler,

Mines going though something very similar. I also had a similar exp when removing the leads.

mines going to the dealer this week. I'll try to report what happens / the results.

Mine is due for replacement... for the 1st time... Dealer tells me they are on V.4 now..:(

I'm gonna hold tight till a couple more revisions come out till hopefully it's sorted....

Mine just failed yesterday with the same symptoms outlined at the top of this thread. I'm going to hit the dealer with it this week. I'll report on how they react.

Hi Styler, my dash issues appear when there is temp in the bike. The new dash is on order and yet to arrive.

My dealer said Ducati are using an alpha reference for the updated dash and that they were up to dash F. ? I hope that means Finally Fixed :D

My bike is a late 2012 build.

WooHoo! I got the phone call this arvo that my replacement dash (a-f) has arrived in stock. :D

Thursday is the day I have the dash replaced and the new carbon heat shield fitted, this along with the new redesigned lower right fairing to replace the melted one.

Service manager says that dash series f has not yet shown any issues, I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Heat was the original issue, guys in warm climates have seen much higher rates of failure. I had mine replaced the first time because if this issue.

The second time it was replaced because a diode in the dash overheated and melted a hole in it. Really hoping this one is a keeper - what happens if it fails again out of warranty?

This is the most endemic failure I've heard of and potentially the most expensive out of warranty.

I had mine replaced about 6 months ago, now I am having the same symptoms as the OP. Right signal does not work, horn doesn't work.. RPM indicator doesn't light up.

I hope they don't give me any .... for my replaced Rizoma signals..

By now they are fully aware of the problem and know it has nothing to do with you Rizoma turn signals. For you guy that have had your dash replaced multiple times now, what are you dong about the odometer? My dealer says it can't be reset. My concern is that down the road when/if I go to sell this puppy, I'll have to disclose that the miles on the dash are not accurate, thus lowering the value of the bike? :(

I kinda thought about that myself... I really think since it's so common that just about everyone has had a new dash display installed, before anyone would buy one used, a simple check with a dealer will show when the warrantied display was changed and at what mileage it had.

Now, incorrect mileages on the display is just a fact of owning a Panigale.
