The one you suggest is mineral based, states in the panigale manual to use full synthetic ester not full synthetic based or mineral.

As for kms done 120,000kms using semi synthetic in my r1 trouble free.

first castrol isnt cheap oil you get the oil cheap there is a difference. second the bike isnt designed for ester synthetic as shell isnt ester. you pay 18 a qt and change it once a year ill pay 7 a qt and change it once a year thanks.

hell you could buy rotella t6 full synthetic for 20 a gallon and be fine.

this is the "recommended" oil and its not an ester thanks for playing you keep spending 18 a qt for motul let me know how that much better that is working for you than castrol racing 4t full synthetic.

Ducati recommends you use Shell Advance 4T Ultra
15W-50 oil. As an alternative it is possible to use a
motorcycle engine oil having the same degree SAE
15W-50 and meeting the following specifications
JASO: MA2 and API: SM.
Remove the oil filler cap (2) and top up until the oil
reaches the required level. Refit the plug.

somebody please tell me or show me where it says use synthetic ester oil. ill wait for that response.

I can't find the msds/product sheet for shell advanced 4t ultra in australia, only has full synthetic on the bottle and dealers want $115 aud for a bottle.

i dont know prices in austrailia but trust me i have only ever used castrol racing 4t 10w50 in my ducati and in my track ninja.

in the hp4 i use castrol racing 4t but a different weight as recommended by bmw.

its all a marketing ploy. my dealer in nj used motorex. my dealer now in fl uses motul ducati recommends shell.

save your money get 6qt for 45 usd for castrol full synthetic racing 4t whatever the weight you want.

You think you've had "trouble free" just keep using it and give it some time.

Saving a few $ on oil is like buying cheap food, it doesn't pay in the long run, and with bikes like ours it's even more critical.

I am more than able to change my own oil but that Oil Service light will drive me crazy. Also this is the first I'm hearing about the RPM Lock. I am going to check out Superbike Corse in Laguna Hills, but worse case I will do it myself and live with the light.

Does anyone have a picture of what the oil change service light looks like when on? I know that when you turn the ignition on a little wrench & the words "service" appears but then go away after about 5 seconds.... is that all it is or does something stay constantly on when an oil change service (ex. 7500 miles) is reached regarding miles on the bike?
