December delivery or wait for a '13 in February?

I've been waiting about 8 weeks and that's been killing me, especially as I don't currently have a bike. Another 16 weeks is too much. I'm doing it.
I wish I could afford to think of this as a $0 bike, but the fact is I need to recover at least two thirds of the purchase price one day to put a deposit on a house.
I suppose it will only be worth a few hundred less and I'd pay over a thousand to rent one for the rest of the year so I may as well bite the bullet now.
I'll post when I pick it up.

good luck with your bike.
post some pics

where you geting it from? what model?

Did you buy a Ducati 1199 to save money?

Can you really wait comfortable for 4 months?

Get a demo ride, and then decide what to do.

I picked up a MY13 red S from Frasers in Wollongong last week. I was lucky enough someone cancelled their order so I didn't have to wait at all. 1000ks down, awesome bike, I would find it tough to wait all summer....

@bluebear.Thanks and I will do mate. Getting a base from northside Ducati in Sydney.

@falco. Actually I did. It'll save me thousands a year in parking! It will be my commuter as well as toy. That's the only way I can justify dropping the coin on it. But no, I can't wait. I did get to ride one before putting down my deposit but they're still not available for test rides, I got lucky with a bike owned personally by the dealer.

@duckhunter. Lucky .......... ;-P

be nice to test ride one, its the only way i can tell if the bike is for me. not gonna drop 36k for a bike and not test ride it 1st. to bad australia is small on dealers and motorcycle that we dont even have demos out yet. i heard it be end of year so im waiting till then.

I would wait on the '13, but that's just me.

Too bad you're not in the States. Every dealer I've been to lately has 2012 Panis sitting on the floor ready to go.

Not to mention you guys pay around 2 thirds the price that we get gouged for. My base abs is going to cost $29k on the road when it finally arrives.

@bluebear. I'm the same, had to ride it before putting money down. You should at least be able to sit on one tho to see how it fits. I don't think anyone has ever ridden one and not liked it. Pretty safe purchase IMO. Mine should arrive first week of November so maybe some dealers will end up with demos in that shipment although if I was running a dealership I would probably hold out for a 13 plate demo so I could recover better $$ upon the sale I the demo bike.

Wait unless they are giving you a deal on a 12. Even then, it would have to be a decent deal for the depreciation hit. The dealer by me has a 2012 Pani S ABS for 2k off right now. It's tempting but I have some shoulder surgery recovery time so I may as well wait.

and nothing wrong with that! ;)

I went to demo an 848 last year, on the spur of the moment me and a friend rode a hundred miles to another dealer after looking at the 848, they had a brand new rsv4, and I snapped it up! Fun bike

I run into this as well at times. Wanting things yesterday haha.

I'm planning on keeping my Panigale for ever! First new bike i've owned and I like the thought of, say in 20 yrs time that I am still owning the same bike that I purchased from new. My uncle still has his 1975 Triumph Bonneville that he has owned from new and he loves it, had so many good memories with it and still worth a few grand as an added bonus.

....I know, why not wait for the 2014 model that will be worth even more!

I put a deposit on one as soon as I saw it last year at the Sydney show. Could not even sit on it.

Then had to wait till May this year. Worth every cent to me.
