Disappointed

Ducati Forum

Help Support Ducati Forum:

...., I don't even have a Panigale anymore but I've been here so long I dont want to go as there is some good info and members. I'll admit...some of the nonsense is entertaining as well. Anyway, it would be good to get the balance back and keep everyone coming back here.

I'm in the same boat, haven't had a Panigale in about a year and a half. But, I still come on here almost everyday.

The black bike is nothing more than a platform to test and try parts I make for myself and others so I guess I'm a poser.

Did you do a build thread on that bike? I'd like to see it I'm interested in cool builds rather than posts that are about clear clutch covers and jewellery.
I think you have a big fault, your images you post are too small can you make em a bit bigger?

Sure thing. Shoot me a PM.From now on anything that I am working on, building new pieces with other members here, request for parts that I have make and ship for free, pics etc please PM me and I will correspond via email. Im done posting things and attempting to contribute to real problem solving and innovation to an audience who could give two ...... I will leave the mirrors, tank bags, broken bolts, oilquariums, trinkets, doodads and "my bike is leaking" to the experts and continue with my stuff in a more appropriate environment.

Isn't this forum a place for all Panigale owners?
There are guys here that race, people who love bling, novices, grandpas etc.

Within the thousands of posts here one finds real pearls. Even if it isn't alway high tech or sometimes even stupid, there is definitely an entertainment factor.

Live and let live. Our forum mods are doing exactly this. And I highly appreciate that.

Most of the hate against you is unwarranted imo. There are a few members that have taken the "I can build it better" posts the wrong way. That said, I wouldn't bash someone for spending the $80k on a SL. Just because you can build it better/cheaper, doesn't mean the next guy can. I know I always hated it when someone knocked my bike for money spent. Someone not being able to justify cost on XYZ doesn't make that the standard. We're all in varying situations and have different relationships with money.

I consider you one of the valuable members as far as contributions go. Instead of the "I'll take my ball and go home" approach, why not stick to the topics that I mentioned earlier? We know you have no interest in limited editions, SL's, cosmetic bits etc. (nor do I). But the tech/fabricating/one off part, topics would be well received if you ask me.

I'm confident the board will go on without you.

I have been staying out of this because I'm a new member here but after seeing this turn, I figure that I should chime in with my perspective as a new member.

I understand what the OP is saying and he's right: there's no place for personal attacks like "you're stupid," etc. etc. etc. However, this should be a place for ALL panigale owners. That means a place for the guys who polish their bikes with a diaper and don't ride them, the guys who ride the bejeezus out of them and see who has the most miles, the ultra wealthy who buy one of every Ducati Superbike made, and definitely the mad scientists who just know there's a better way and work hard to make that a reality, and everyone in between.

There's no "right way" to be a good owner and it's important to have different kinds of owners here who share their perspective.

I get that no one likes reading some of these handbag fights but on the flip side of that, I like seeing where people are going from with their perspective. There is a lot of great thinking and ingenuity here and it's unfortunate that some of these other things get in the way of that.

I hope that no one stops posting and that this is a place where everyone can share their thoughts and opinions.

It takes all kinds to make a world. This forum is NO exception. I take almost everything I read on here with a pinch of salt if it is inflammatory. For the most part it's amusing to see the "usual suspects" slugging it out (handbags at dawn and all that) so not looking for a major shift change in the politics on here. It's only when it gets personal that mods need to step in. There is a lot of envy driven diatribe on here but that's true of many forums and is nothing new. That said, if you as an individual are happy with your life choices, be that bolting another piece of carbon on your bike (guilty your honour) or willy waving your latest lap time at your last trackday or berating someone for their lack of technical prowess, then it's all part of the makeup of this and countless other forums. Rise above it and move on.

I look at forums like this as part informational and part entertainment. Kind of like MotoGP; part sport and part soap opera for guys. Neither to be taken very seriously in the grand scheme of life.

@youngR

Jeez, I just told him bye, What more can I do ? A hug ?

NOLA

it doesnt take much to see your obvious hatred towards him.:D

Did you ever answer my question on what you do from other post?

@youngR

Totally your opinion dude. I thought it was good conversation. He's not going anywhere, give it a week.

Theres one thing I'd like to chime in on.

I don't have a ton of posts, I'm not a moderator, I'm not a millionaire, I'm not poor, I don't have any limited edition bikes, I wish I had limited edition bikes, I own 6 bikes, none of them are remotely close to stock, and I love anything that has to do with Ducati.

So now that you know me so well I can say my peace.

I don't care if you have a Ducati, I don't care if you have 1 Ducati, I don't care if you have 100 Ducati's, I don't care if your bikes are stock, I don't care if your bikes are modified to any extent, and I don't care how many posts you have or how long you have been a member on a forum.

One thing that needs to be considered by all users on any forum, here and everywhere else. Your post count, your likes accumulated, your length of tenure DOES NOT MATTER. Don't let it get to you and allow you to become someone you aren't. I see A LOT of forum members who quickly amass likes, posts, internet friends etc. and they start becoming a bully.

This ruins forums. Don't be "too good" or "above" others and not help them out when they ask for help. Don't allow your beliefs or opinions dictate what is allowed in the world. If someone wants to buy a SL or a Desmo and stretch it on a 300 rear tire and you don't like it ITS OK TO NOT LET THEM KNOW YOU DONT LIKE IT. If someone wants to mod a bike into something equal to or better than a production SL, guess what ITS OK TO NOT LET THEM KNOW YOU DONT LIKE IT.

To each his own. Show respect. Have respect for yourself. Show class. Help others. Make this community great. Do your part. Bullying people and having them leave the forum doesn't help anyone. Theres two individuals in this thread who are acting like they want to leave this forum and not come back. That isn't ok and you aren't "cool" for taking part in making them feel that way.

Internet/keyboard warriors aren't accomplishing anything in life.

For the forum members

I have been reading posts of recent and I have to say I am disappointed. I really come to the forum cause I love bikes, I love Ducati, I use this forum for knowledge, experience, and to get ideas for little projects that I can manage, (either skill wise, or financially). I truly live vicariously through many of you guys and think many are luckier than myself to have the time and money to dedicate to track riding.

These days most of what I read is how "stupid one owner is", or "this guy doesn't know WTF he's doing", or "look how smart I am compared to you" things along this line.

I really appreciate everyone's thoughts and experiences here. I try not to post quick ...... comments, though that's how my New York mind works 90% of the time. Instead I realize that this is a forum and the unspoken agreement is respect.

While I don't think most here are inherently bad I feel people need to work on their presentations with there thoughts and try not to lose their ideas in the way they demonstrate them.

Don't get me wrong I don't feel we need to all take our shirts off and hug, (unless your a female rider in which please post pics as proof...lol). However, I really have seen some really valid point and information just get lost in the tsunami of .... that gets spread here.

please, as this is one of the only forums I belong to and check daily. After my shoulder surgery this September I hope to race for one more season before just becoming a track day bum. I will really need help from time to time and I just don't want that help to get lost in translation.

Thanks for listening.

Thamer, I couldn't agree more. I miss the forum of old, when we were more like a "team" sharing a common passion for Ducati.

Lol, even in the, "We can do without the petty personal attacks thread," we get a petty personal attack.
