DIY Sequential Tail Light

Ducati Forum

Help Support Ducati Forum:

I have a TST taillight on my little Z125 Kawi, it's a miniature version of the Panigale taillight almost, and does all sorts of cool things like Gecko's does, they may be able to do it.......
I've already been in contact and created a post, their lead engineer is looking at the project currently..

I'm sure someone else must have already come across this one, so this might be a stupid question, but here it goes:

What exactly is wrong with this one?

Seems to me it is exactly what people are looking for.
Fairly inexpensive too
From what I can tell, it's not programmed to strobe/flash.

Look up any TST Tail and look at the programming options they offer...

I won't buy any integrated tail out there besides Motodynamic and TST.

I've seen the Panigale integrated taillights in person and I would never, ever run one. They are nowhere near bright enough, you can barely see the turn signal and running light in the day. They are all Competition Works taillights being sold under different names/brands from what I can tell.

So does anybody know what the holdup is with Motodynamic and TST?

Did TST ever make one for the 1199? I dont see it on their site.

Nope! I don't think it's going to happen. The excuse was they couldn't get a local bike for extended testing and R&D. Even if they did it would take 8-12 months before the lights became available. Now with the new V4 coming I don't see it being a profitable market item for them...:(

I noticed that Motobox is offering an integrated tail light. Does anyone have any experience with their product, or is it just another rebadged piece of junk?

I'm going to chime in and after reading 12 pages and really love the passion and dedication to the craft that Gecko has put into this. Just wondering why there wasn't any mention of a collab between Gecko and MD, this way everyone wins?

Alternatively, if people are willing to do their own work maybe it could be suggest which parts to purchase and then sell the controller box with instructions as a side piece. If you already have the the controller designed and have the manufacturer to put it together for you this way you can just make money off of that and people can still create your product.

I'd be willing to tear open my OEM 1199S taillights and add this controller to it with the OEM functionality still attached.

I don't know if it makes sense to use a USB with simple UI (very similar to how the MelcoDiag interfaces) to add the configuration you want for your bike or be able to modify the settings based on certain controller functions like hold down the up switch for 10 seconds and then use the up and down , left and right signal and then enter button to accept the changes.

@Gecko if you are open to selling the software and boards or tell me what pieces are required and sell me your software, I'm willing to learn and do what's necessary.
