DIY Sequential Tail Light

During the last weeks I was mailing to the Asian guy who should produce the optical parts including the LED installation. All was very promising and I thought that production could start in October.

I am doing this project as a private person. I have almost no expierience with the Asian market (I tried to import tools and bolts from Japan and China last year, and these ventures failed 100%).

Now, after sending concepts and designs over a month ago, the business partner still seems not to understand what I want. I am running out of energy...
I simply don't know whether these problems are caused by stupidity or by "intercultural differences". I always thought that all engineers on this planet speak the same language. But it seems that I'm wrong :(
Last response from the manufacturer was "I don't understand".

I gave it another shot today and I'll wait for the response from Asia. If nothing fruitfull comes as an answer, I'm going to stop the project. I'm very sorry to bring you such negative info, but in my personal opinion it's not my fault. Design is completed and super-cool. All information required for production has been sent by me to the manufacturer. All questions asked have been answered by me immediately and in detail. Software is written and tested on 1199, 1199S, 1299S and SL (It will work on 959 and 899, guaranteed. just had no chance to get a grip on these bikes). It would also allow to keep the DDA+ stick keeping connected without draining the battery.

:(

BTW: I also contacted companies in the US (they didn't even answer) and Switzerland (way to expensive). Just to make clear that I am not a racist or somehow else strange).
Hey Gecko how much would the swiss manfacture cost? I mean i wouldent mind paying more. And im sure a lot of people wouldent mind as well

the people i know that do biz with China always travel to China and it's not just for QC, though that does require significant monitoring.

That and the relationship. After a night of getting hammered, massage girls kicking their heels in your spines and all that, suddenly it works.

Gecko if Wallaroo hasn't already helped resolve any obtacles I can check and see if there may be something I can do. I am a Project Mgr by profession. Currently have the resources and products being manufactured. From Engineering to Patent, Legal and manufacturing I have a few resources I can call on that may be able to help out. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help.

Any update?

No, not really.
Chinese guy is at intermot, which means not available for 2 weeks :(
Also after my last contact I realised that these guys didn't really understand what's the job. Right now I am completely frustrated. So many e-mails and no result. And turn-around time per e-mail is 3 days at least!!!! Everybody want's to make business, but without any effort. I don't need persons who know persons who might be helping by knowing again other persons. Where are the guys who actually DO something?

I am very sorry for this bad news! I'll try again next week to get any more info.

I spent almost all my free time for this project the last two months. At the moment I'm building a show rear light for a Streetfighter. The tail light housings of the older Ducatis are soooooo easy to modify. But the Panigale's is a bitch :(

In the meantime I'll continue reverse-engineering the CAN bus protocol. Maybe something cool will arise from this work....

Did you hear back from my contact in the US, if not I will reach out to one of the project managers and engineers directly, if the owner didn't respond. I didn't hear back from him myself.

Gecko, the guy i have in china has a headphone manufacturing company as well, he can help you with the assembly. i had him on the phone and he said - no problem.

Yeah, last gen tail lights were wicked easier to mess around with. Jon from CustomLED made some really nice ones. I had one on my 848.

Anymore insight?

China guy finally let me down :(
Tried another company in Switzerland, no success.
Next week I'm going to contact a company in the US, got the address from one of you guys. If this isn't going to work out, I'll do a last try in asia, also from a contact from you guys.

For the controller, I've found a nice product in the UK that fits perfect.

Sorry for this ...... news, I'm really sad how things are not going on :(

I commend you for all your doing, I think everyone here is in your corner and is gladly, and patiently awaiting your success story vs the let down that is known to be MotoDynamic

I'll send you a PM right now with my contact information, maybe we can get this going together. I have some key contacts within the industry.
