Why the animosity from some of you? They want to sell us a "more" limited edition of the Panigale. What's wrong with that? I'm sure there are more than enough willing customers that want one. Not a 100% sure that I can, but I would like one!

Besides, it will be beneficial to all of us when the new bike's "exotic" parts or its derived tech will trickle down to other models in the future. I can think of many past-exotic parts that are widely available now. Traction control, CF/titanium parts, fly-by-wire throttle, ABS, active/electronic suspension, etc. I'm one of those that like to try new tech.

I just bought the R in April and this was the fourth bike in 2 years so this news is not going to fly too well with my wife. Especially since I bought a Leica Noctilux 50mm f/0.95 lens last week.

I'm running out of excuses... What excuse can I use now? It might be possible to convince my wife if it comes out next June or so, since the R will be over a year old. Maybe I'll use the same excuse that I've used so often and worked the best... "my bike feels weird, or my bike is falling apart... it's not safe. You don't want me to ride an unsafe bike do you?" :D

So this would essentially imply a dry weight of around 315 lbs. in street trim, meaning that stripped for the track you could be looking at a sub 300 lb. bike with 205hp.

This will be very interesting if legitimate.

I can see Ducati building this bike, ya it will have tons of carbon and magnesium, probably more power and be rare. If I could sling it I'd buy one.
That's the beauty of it though, only Ducati would build a bike like this and have people all over lust over it. So if you can then go for it I highly doubt you will be disappointed.

$$$$$ called me yesterday from the dealers Ducati show in New Orleans.. They are coming out with a new panigale based desmo!
It is the new motogp racer concept that is going into motogp as well as a street version.

As it was told to me from from $$$$$ by the CEO of Ducati. "We have tested this design all year on track". It's the fastest Ducati we have ever produced!"

They they have it clocked at speeds of 230mph on track..

Who or what is $$$$$

When the R came out the whining started on the same day: Not exclusive enough, too affordable, just an S with goodies.

Now it seems there will be an RRR and the whining starts on the same day. Ironic isn't it.

If I had the wallet for one I'd get it in a heartbeat and would park it next to my D16RR if I'd have had the wallet for one.:D

I for one never whined about the R ....and am not whining about the RRR or whatever its called.... I just think these bikes are ridiculously priced and I am so happy I got a base bike...otherwise I feel I would be in danger of always looking to get the next bike and chasing what might be perceived as the "holy grail" ..... The 1199 is quite enough for me... and bang for the buck the base is the best 1199.... someone can spend $65000 and have a slightly more powerful and slightly lighter bike... if anyone thinks thats worth the money..cool.... to me..Nah...

from what i'm able to learn......

-- pumped up and weight reduced 1199r with desmosedici paint scheme

-- pics will surface as Ducati allows.......soon enough......

-- but who really cares.......it could be polka dotted and still be desirable :)

Can I expect to see you at Stewarts with one in the Spring???

I completely agree with the sentiment of being content with the bike that works best for your situation, but to be fair this bike wouldn't just be slightly lighter, it would be considerably lighter.

If accurate, these specs are getting awfully close to current MotoGP territory. Add 30 HP and you're right there with the M1 and RC213V. That's worthy of a good deal of adulation if you ask me. Considering MotoGP unit prices probably land in the $150-$200k range (not including R&D obviously, which easily pushes actual costs into the millions), $65k isn't too bad for this level of engineering and performance.

This is a fair point of view....But only valid if this bike is being used on the track..and not being posed around on....

I think your in luck .From what I understand it's a limited bike with a list of names it will be offeredto .
Not the sort of thing offered to someone with only a base model bike .

Lol.... I know I'm just a lowly base bike owner..... But not sure how that's relevant as to how this bike will be used by other owners??

attention we have the 1199RRR it will be 80,000 dollars. it will produce 250 hp and be the best performing bike on paper

fine print

the 250 hp was produced on a dyno with optimum conditions at sea level winds at 100 mph with the wheel sensor off. Full exhaust which is an option for 15k. NO converter special software (which is another 10k.) a 120 lb rider in full gear.

your specific results will vary

next months cycle world

the ducati 1199RRR best bike money can buy

2 month later

ultimate shootout ducati 1199RRR vs aprilla aprc abs vs hp4 competition

results
the ducati is great to look at and does everything well but for 1/3 of the price you can get both the aprc ape and the hp4 competition and have plenty of change

if you want to waste your money by all means go with the ducati

That is some funny .... bro! ROFLMFAO!

Do we really need a new version of the 1199 ? I think ducati should concentrate more on winning races other than coming up with special editions where in bike 1/3 the price can give it a run for its money.

Win races first then bring out the special editions.

Ever though this may be a way to get a new version of the 1199 into WSBK ?
I don't buy my bikes based on the outcome of WSBK or GP so me it makes no difference .

Can you imagine dropping $65K on a vehicle that is at some point likely to fall over in the garage by accident, get a chip in the paint from the car in front of you, or melt the faring cause after all it's a ducati? I would be heartbroken.

Of course, my guess is anyone who buys one of these will just sit on it and never ride the thing.....

what a waste really.....

Of course I want one....but $65K.....you have to be ....... nuts. And if that is pocket change to you then you suck.

I must say I'm stumped by these types of comments. Considering no official specs have been released in addition to the fact that this bike hasn't even been publicly confirmed by Ducati yet, I'm not sure how you could make these claims, or even why you would want to, without having any kind of data to substantiate them.

also from the same news wire the aprc and hp4 still do just as much just as well for half the price.

Except for the Lust and Envy they stir in the hearts of men. I don't think any bike does that as well as the Panigale! And besides, why get a APRC or HP4 when you can get a ZX-10R...
