Just received the following email from Ducati UK confirming the new map, heat shield and 41 tooth sprocket. I've cut and pasted it below:

In addition to winning a special place in your heart, your 1199 Panigale won in 2012 an unprecedented collection of awards for its groundbreaking style, innovative technology and breathtaking performance. For 2013, we eagerly await the Panigale's debut in the World Superbike Championship as well as its encore performance in the FIM Superstock, where the differences between your motorcycle and the racing version are truly minimal.

Despite the 1199 Panigale's incredible accomplishments to date, it's in our DNA to never stop improving the Panigale through constant development and updating.

Our work, also reflected in the soon-to-be-launched 1199 Panigale R, has resulted in a set of improvements that will enable you to get the absolute most from the best sport twin ever made.

"¢ We have developed a new electronic engine map which also optimizes Quick Shift gear changes, and will be provided to you at zero cost.
"¢ We have also homologated and approved the option to use a 41-tooth rear sprocket, to increase the final drive ratio.

These modifications will give your engine more robust mid-range response and - at the race track - will allow you to get the most from the Ducati Performance exhaust, whether you have already installed it or should you choose to do so in the future.

Further, we have improved comfort along with performance. For an optimum ride, you may choose to have new heat shields installed at no cost on the engine's vertical cylinder and on the exhaust system.

The above improvements will be made available to you by the end of February. Please contact your local dealer for more information, and to reserve an appointment.

We are thankful for your commitment to a product at the absolute top of its category, as well as your appreciation of our commitment to its nonstop advancement. We hope to see you soon at one of the Ducati family gatherings.

The Ducati Team

Received this in Australia too...hence my question about sprockets I posted earlier.

Just checked my inbox got the same e-mail. I really cant decide if I want this heat shield or not. Desperate for a set of termis so I will do the ECU map, also the way I ride the mid range upgrade is favourable.

Main thing is I STILL haven`t ridden it yet so does it really get that hot? (Question posed to UK/Northern Euro riders!!!)

PS the only time I will ride my Panigale in town is to take it to the dealers for a service so 99% of its moving life will be on the open road.

Cheers

It does get hot, but as long as you have leathers on, and aren't stationary for any length of time, it's manageable.

But in saying that, I picked it up in September and probably haven't ridden it any warmer than 15'C.

For normal road riding the heat isn't an issue above 40mph if you're wearing leathers. 40mph seems to be the magic speed at which the airflow is enough dissipate the heat. If you're stuck in traffic, wearing jeans and the ambient temperate is 30C plus the heat is a real issue and you'll benefit greatly from the kit. I guess it depends how/where your ride. I'm not going to bother because the kit is fugly, almost as bad as the Japanese exhaust.

Things are a bit different on track and I'm concerned how much heat the extra shielding will retain in the engine. At Val de Vienne last summer the bike was at 103C with the fans running after each 20 minute track session in an ambient of 35C. while I didn't notice the heat at all during the sessions, the bike wasn't cooling itself without the fans, even at track speeds.

The heat isn't an issue for me & the new heat
Shield looks bloody ugly, so I won't be bothering
with the replacement one.
I think I will go for the new 41 tooth rear
sprocket, it's not as the bike really needs it
but I will give it a go & see if it gives that
extra oomph. I we t down 1 on the front on
my 848 & it made quite a difference.
Any one know costs of 41 tooth sprocket
plus fitting?
The new up-map is the one that came out
in November is it? As I've already had that
one. Or is there an update on that one?
I'm running full termi system if it makes
any difference.

Can't wait for the sun to start shining again!!

Received the same email yesterday. Don't really notice the heat on the 1199 anymore than on the other ducati's (998s, 999s track bike, 848) I've owned. I won't be fitting the new heat shield. AC

Same mail here in the Netherlands :)
Wonder if this is the new heatshield for the Full Termi ?
