Do you think this is a fair review of a tyre sold for the street?? not as a track/race tyre??

If you check the Dunlop website this tire is sold for road/track use. It should be quite close to our OEM Pirelli.

The front is awesome, better then Pirelli, a lot of confidence on it, you can push harder but the rear is slippery.

That's an interesting comment.

I like the Q3 much better than the Pirelli on the front. More "feel". No complaints on the rear Pirelli (other than price).

I did run a q3 front with the Pirelli rear and liked the set up (on the street, mind you. No exp with it on the track).

I'm not sure on that combination in the track, the Dunlop carcass is stiffer then Pirelli.

Just spoke with Dave from Dunlop...

For the street: 34F - 32R

Track: Cold: F 33 - R 31
After 1 on 2 laps...Hot: F 35 - R 34 ( and play with this numbers for your ride style) maybe lower 1 or 2 psi.

Panigale Sport Mode: TC to 3
Race Mode: TC to 1

I'm going back to the track on the July 27...I will give you a better feed back on this tires.

wow those cold numbers seem very high, I will be running them from next week so i will report back but with my supercorse I'm running 23/26 cold so it seems strange that the dunlops run with so much more psi

Agree on that! These tires need to run slower pressure, especially in this part of the season with very hot temperature. I put mine 28front/24rear and I was sliding less then before.

I will start with those numbers as I'm pretty sure running anything in the 30's cold will result in me crashing

I lost the rear twice in the long 2nd turn at Barber, the TC brought the tire to the right grip but was scary

Do you think dunlop people is trying to kill us? :)

It depend of the track condition and temperature, right?
I was surprise with the numbers too! Dave told me that is the feed back from people testing the tires and reporting back to him..

To run 23/26 you are flying on the track! That's great! Maybe one day!

I was running 30/30 Hot, 78F day and the bike was almost perfect. The supercorsa was "burning" really nice, the suspension guru from ohlins make a new setup on my bike for sport and race mode. The bike is fantastic!!!

I don't know if I made the right choice with the Q3...I hope!

We really need to test this tires and put the track name, track temp, psi etc... and more info to help us to understand what should be the best for it.

I have some photos to share.

he is correct i posted it straight from dunlop on july 7th in this thread. i have the email from dunlop

http://ducati1199.com/ducati-1199/18698-dunlop-q3-pressure.html

here is the answer straight from dunlop this is for the track.

the best way to set your tire pressure is to start with 33 psi cold front and 31 psi cold rear. do a track session then as soon as you come off the track check your pressure again and adjust them to 35 front and 34 rear . dont be afraid to +- 2psi depending on how polished your track surface is. lower psi for more polished higher psi for more course tracks.

tire warmers are not needed as the q3 heats up so quickly. only time tire warmers would be a benefit is 40 F or less in the morning.

this came from the consumer affairs dept. at dunlop. you can call dunlop and they will send you this email. i paraphrased some of it. hope this helps.

They look nice and clean, here it is mine.

This was 28front/24rear right? Hot or cold Do you have a pic from your the front tire?
What temp was at the track? what track?
Did you have someone set it up your suspension?

Cold. The barber Motorsport track was over 100 and no suspension set up, same set up when I ride Pirelli. I'll take a pic of the front too.

Ok, it makes sense... 100F on a Track day...
I was in 75f - 80f and hot 30/30 on supercorsa. It was great! Like glue!
I will setup the same for the Dunlop to start with... if the weather still the same.

That's why is always nice to post a little more info :)
Thanks bud!

P.s. In my original post I put all these info, track, temp etc :p:D

Street my magic numbers are 30.5 F and 32R cold....Weather 75 a 85F ... Tc 3 sport mode.
I ride in back roads with a lot of corners ( farm roads :) ... If I put more psi I can not control the bike as I like...

With this tire psi 30.5 F and 32R cold... I can come to a corner really hot and not be worrie about it....
Love it...

I will go back to track on July 27...I will share my tires psi, weather and track condition.

Thanks!

After spent all day Sunday at track... this is my feedback from Q3.

Weather 78F,
Tire psi: 28F 29R
Intermediate all morning and Expert all afternoon
-----
Notice: I have an ohlins suspension guy to set my bike for my weight and riding style.

1: I'm Not going back to the Supercosas.

2: This tire has a lot of grip in any turns...really stable...169 on the strait line and bike does not move at all. I was really impressed with it.

3: I have nothing negative to say about this tire. Amazing!

Buying another set soon. Thanks Dunlop!

Only read the tail of this thread so far. Curious if you ran Q3s at track temps on the street appx how long they'd last? Would they burn out faster than the Pirellis? That's all I need to know. I love the Pirellis at 30/30 on the street, just not the wear so much at those PSIs.

I think the Q3 will last longer...
My guess for my ride style...( street )
Q3 3300 miles
Supercorsas: 2300 miles

Track I think 4-5 times full day. Q3
Supercorsas 3-4 times full day.

Good stuff - matches my SC mileage.

Did you make any rear ride height changes or do anything else to the steering geometry to accommodate the Q3 on the track?
