A source who claims to be well connected to the factory claimed that next year will be the end of the "R" and that we will see a new 1299? Anybody else heard something like that?

Hmmm, interesting I'd have a hard time seeing them build a bike they probably couldn't race.... But who knows

Supposedly KTM is coming out with the next RC8 based on the 1290 Super Duke R. So based on typical competition between manufacturers it could be possible. Maybe they'll have a homologation special for WSBK with the appropriate displacement and maybe a balls - out 1300 cc twin to finally kick some S1000RR tail in comparison tests. Almost seems logical...

One can only hope!!

If the bump it out another 100 cc I bet they do it with stroke

Oh I think it would be awesome if they did, push the limits as much as they can, like the 1098 to the 1098R, if it happens that would be awesome, probably be the R first then the next year the whole line gets the engine, if they follow that suit.

I have not read that anywhere. I don't think Honda, Yamaha, and or anyone else will go for that. In the other manufactures eyes, Ducati already has a 200cc advantage (even though its choked to death and weighted down).

You got a link so we can read it?

I will deff get one if they do this. Been wanting to upgrade to an R.

In a perfect world scenario I would love to see 1199R with 1298cc the SL electronics(wheelie control, on the fly adjustable TC, etc.) and numbered. Okay maybe a few more things, that would be a killer machine.... In my dreams give it the SL pistons and crank shaft, now we have a demon

and a TDI multi next year.

accepting bets right now.

Interesting....I'll never be one to ask for less power, so I hope it's true.

Read really good article today saying that Doma FIA regulations are suffocating the 1199 potential because they force ducati to 50mm air restrictors on 67mm throttle bodies all to hold Ducati back while the 4's are unrestricted, bet if those restrictors where removed 1199 would turn the tables on the 4's in WSBK, I don't know current regs for BSB (UK SB series) but I remember how 999's did against competition with Lavia & Haslam BSB had different rules from WSBK

I really don't think that Ducati would release a 1299cc race bike without the rules already being written. I also can't imagine that if this bike was coming out next year that there wouldn't already be spy photos and talk about how Dorna has already excepted the rule change allowing the bump in displacement.

I actually hope the next Pani is a 999R V4 :)

Sorry to thread bomb with that last statement.

Oh yeah I wanted to add that there will be a lot of pissed of SL owners if one year after they bought a limited edition bike that it went the way of the albatross.

The 1199 is doing too well in SSTK and the EVO classes to justify such a move. Even at the local club level it does well. I think it will be a tough sell to many involved,...especially the buying public.

Oh yeah, (sorry it's 5 in the morning in Madrid and I'm tired...lol.)

When I say the public I mean people like us who have spent a lot of time and money upgrading and modding a bike that has only been out 2 1/2 years, just to have the bike kicked to the curb for another 100cc.

The 916 to the 998 was done in 4 year increments. It just seems very odd.

Ktm on the other hand has had a history of producing road bikes nobody really races. That isn't a slight against ktm, I actually think in many ways they we ahead of the curve in design and could probably do well in WSBK.

Just my thoughts on it. Could be wrong...
