Hey guys

I've had my new baby for two weeks and after only 150km on the clock she died on me while riding.

After taking her back to the dealers they diagnosed the throttle positioning sensor to be faulty and told me that the throttle bodies had to be replaced.

Has anyone else had any issues with the throttle bodies? Why did the throttle bodies have to be replaced if it is the sensor... Or well maybe that's what I got told.

I'm a bit worried about having this issue on a brand new bike... Should I be? Should I be worried about anything else failing seeing that this already failed within only 150km riding at max 6000rpm.

Thanks

New bike... warranty case. So no worries at all.
Actually that's the best thing that happened to you, you got a problem within the first year that could be diagnosed properly and you'll get a replacement of the full assembly. That's great!

.... happens everywere, but with 150km on the clock, it's luck.

my dealer in the uk replaced the throttle body on my 1299 under warranty as a matter or coarse as I found my bike was a bit to glitch . its better now. do you find you have a slight dead spot in the revs around 3 t0 4k. ive got akrapovics fitted by the dealer which I think might be causing the symptoms.dealer says it just needs more miles on the clock, only done 60 miles on it due to winter weather being bad at the mo.

cheers

Had faulty throttle bodies on my 848evo , under warranty all sorted , no hassle .. Dealer sorted it and never had and issue again .

I also have Akrapovics on my 1299 ... Up too 8500 km .... And it's running superbly

hiya have you taken the exhaust baffles out yet, dealer told me it helps smooth the bike out as less restriction in exhaust. what do your think as you've been using akras for a while now.

thks

can't say I've noticed a hesitation around 4k. I've got akra slip ons, no baffles.

the throttle died on my monster 1200 and was replaced, .... happens especially with electronics.

umm might take the baffles out in that case.hopefully get out and try this weekend as rain will take the salt away hopefullyfingers crossed. cheers

years ago some of the scheduled service on the superbikes required a complete engine removal . because of the stigma we get from having work done on our automobiles its common to think taking our beauty apart somehow weakens it .
IMO you should not feel the same way with a motorcycle .
people who own private airplanes don't devalue them when the engines are worked on for scheduled service.
rest easy

+1, These bikes are race bikes, they're designed with the knowledge they will be taken apart numerous times.

Harley's are the exact opposite, lol.

My friend had 1098s. It was giving TP-sensor error. The local shop was saying Ducati doesn't sel TP-sensor as a spare, only whole throttle bodies with more than 1000€ price tag.

I took off throttle bodies and popped out TP-sensor. It was real common part, exactly the same TP is used for example Fiat Punto. Picked spare from local car service with 17€, put it in. It needed to be adjusted with Ducati Mattrix tool.

All I am saying, in modern days a lot of parts are not necessarily sold as separate spare, but components are often same as in automotive industry and can be found. It is stupid, but in lean manufacturing happens very often. Subcontractor is supplying some entity, and it is not sold spare by spare by the manufacturer.
