All,

I was wondering if any of you had purchased a tank bag other than the DP one? If so please let me know which one and if it was good or bad.

Many Thanks

Jock

I purchased a Giant Loop Fandango tank bag. It works ok on the Panigale, but you have to unstrap it to refill the tank.

A minor inconvenience but the quality is extremely high and it is a perfect size.

Use a Chase-Harper 450.

Small, doesn't interfere with moving around when you're in tuck position. Large enough to hold shades, wallet, cell phone, cigs, hat, etc. Also has a clear map/route bag that snaps on the top.

Pic with it on bike:

I should note that I can't use a tank bag that attaches magnetically--aluminum tank. That's one of the reasons I use a bag that is held on with straps like the Giant Loop.

Hey Roadster, I looked at the tank bag you suggested and I'm trying to see how it works. The front loops around the steering mount (Wouldn't that interfere with turning?) What does the end 2 straps attach to? Have pics?

Thanks

Sorry, no pics and not likely to post any anytime soon--I only use the tank bag on relatively long trips and rides in the Spring, Summer and Fall.

The front straps do loop around the steering head--and don't interfere with steering or handling at all. The rear straps loop around something--I don't remember exactly what--under the seat I think. I haven't needed it for a few months.

What I do remember is that it attached very securely--but it was a minor pain in the ... every time I needed to fill up with gas. I did like the size and the high quality.

The Giant Loop stuff is mostly designed for ADV bikes--but I was quite surprised by how well it fit onto the Panigale.

I can strongly endorse Kriega gear from long experience. I own 4 of their backpacks and have used the rest of the system for tailpacks and tankbags on other bikes. I think Dennis Matson has used Kriega on some of his Panigale travels.

I use a US10 on the tank (with tank mounting accessory) for quick trips, + a US 20 on the tail for 3-4 day trips, and also wear an R20 backpack if I'm going to be away longer. The way they go together and how easily you can increase storage is excellent....don't want US10 on the tank? Fasten it to the US20 or the backpack. (US is Universal System by the way)

I too have Kreiga us tail bags and agree that they are fantastic, but I was worried the tank bra would scratch or Rub on the tank. I have been looking at the sw mototech tank bags which use a clip and lock mechanism over the gas cap, where the bag doesn't touch the tank.

I also had that concern and was quite detailed (anal) about where the bra mounts and plastic adjusters were positioned...every time I stopped for fuel I'd check for scratches but it was ok. I used to have a full leather tank cover with clip on bag on a Repsol CBR, thought it would be the best protection but it turns out not in my case, the damage was done between the tank and cover but I never saw it until removed a few weeks later, not happy! At least with the bra style you can wipe away dust / road sh*t every hour or so.

A friend had a magnetic tank bag on his brand new Monster 1200S (like 12 miles on it new) when we got to the destination he found 4 perfectly round marks where dust had been between tank and bag magnets....

I'll have to look in to those, thanks for heads up.

There is a model called Evolve. It is for the multi strada. It has a curved base which looks like it would follow the panigale tank perfectly.

Can someone who uses Kreiga post some pics with tail and tank bags and how it mounts? Greatly appreciated.
