It doesn't look like we will be offering them, but you should be able to get them from Akrapovic. Steel headers were selected to meet our durability tests.

Thanks TJ. So we will be able to buy from akra also. Not like Ktm where you can only get it at a dealer?

Exhausts aren't compatible between 1199/1299. As Phil noted the 1299's exhaust is the same dimensionally as that of the SL's, only it's made in steel instead of ti and isn't Akra. The Akra ti exhaust is available for both 1299 and 1299 S.

The Panigale R, on the other hand, runs the exact same homologated ti Akra exhaust as the SL.

Does that mean that the Akra Evolution Line System for the 1199 does mechanically not fit on the 1299? If theirs is dimensionally the same as that of the SL, it should fit as the SL system (including the race kit) is from my knowledge the same as the Akra Evolution Line (exept material SS/Ti of the headers).

Akra doesnt have any exhaust systems listed for the 2015 1299/1299S/Pani R as of today... have to wait and see if they do sell their own systems.

If they do, I doubt that they would provide an up-map unlike the Akra systems listed as accessories through Ducati which come with up-maps.

I do not expect that this will happen, I assume Ducati is expecting exclusivity form Akrapovic as an official Ducati Performance supplier (as it is the case for all the Termignoni stuff for the Ducati bikes).

Open question is if the Akra full system for the 1199 also fits mechanically on the 1299. Of course you have to modify the mapping yourself then...

I suspected that too so maybe Ducati is the only way to get an Akra system for the 2015 models..

As TJ said, 1199 system doesnt fit the 1299 so it can't be used. Just set aside another $5K and you should have what you need ;)

You want slip-ons for your 2015 R...?

You want slip-ons for your 2015 R...?

On the ducati site, Akra Slip-ons for the R - $3855.99 - slip-ons only (full titanium of course) lol's !!

claimed 7% increase in power - 9.92lbs (4.5kg) weight total

The battery cover is also vented on the 1299. Another difference that's initially hard to spot. Snapped this when I was at EICMA in November.

No I'm a bit confused. Are you confirming that the 1199 full Akra does not fit on the 1299 or that it should fit?

Hi again guys.

So, I was wrong. I was told previously that the exhausts between 1199 and 1299 were not compatible, but after pressing the head project engineer further, they will physically fit fine.

To use a 1299 or SL exhaust on the 1199, you'll have to also use the vertical cylinder heat shield, the lower of the right fairing (it's got a different cutout for the larger diameter exhaust tube). There will also be minor issues with passenger pegs, and he said something about drilling a new hole/making a new mounting point on the subframe. Of course, then you'll also need a custom map as the SL one won't be good.

Sorry for my previous misleading info, hope that helps.

According to the Ducati site....the Akrapovic slip-ons from Ducati Performance for the 2015 Panigale R have an MSRP of $3855.00....are they truly that expensive or is it a misprint (doubtful) :) ?

Hi TJ,

thanks for updating, that means also that you can use the full Akra for 1199 also for the 1299 from mounting perspective and dimensions, right? Mapping of course needs to be updated as well.

Same question. The price for slip ons is ridiculous. One can costs more than I paid for both Termignoni slip ons for the 1199 when it was first introduced. If the 1199 and 1299 slip ons are compatible why would you pay £2,600+ for the DP '1299' when Omnia racing are selling the '1199' for £1,780.

It's hard to see this as anything other than just fleecing the customer as the new model is rolled out. Very disappointing. Waiting for prices on Termi or may butcher the stock cans, on principal I refuse to pay the current RRP.

That tells me the 1199 akra exhaust with a smaller diameter will work with no mods necessary except a tune

I don't think that the full Akra for the 1199 has a smaller diameter (it's about 60mm on the main pipes vs. 55mm of the 1199 OEM exhaust) compared to the full Akra for the 1299 offered officially with Ducati Performance labelling on the Ducati website, at least estimated from the image. The main improvement of the full Akra (definetely for 1199 and according to Ducati site also for the 1299) is in the mid engine speed range.

An experienced guy here in Germany told me that the 70mm full Termi exhaust mainly improves max. power output, not midrange performance. So I would really wonder if the official 1299 Akra has a bigger diameter than 60mm.

But maybe I'm wrong....

That was in reference to the cutout needed on the 1199 using the 1299 exhaust TJ pointed out. The 1199 exhaust will fit the 1299 without having to mod anything on the bike, because the diameter of the exhaust for the 1199 is smaller. But the 1299 exhaust on an 1199 you will have to mod the fairing and use the vertical cylinder heat shield from the 1299 plus the rear pass pegs will need to modded also since the diameter is larger. How much larger is not known atm. But that's not a huge mod to be made anyways.

The full Akra for the 1199 and even the full Termi with 70mm do not need a mod on the lower right fearing, thats clear. TJ was saying that using a 1299 OEM or SL OEM system would need this part to be modified....

If TJ has the possibility to confirm diameter of 1299 full Akra Ducati Performance system, we will know it for sure...
