First 1299 review

Regarding the Akra Y-collector, I will try to check but it's an extremely busy week here so it may take some time. If anyone has an Akra contact try checking with them first.

Leon I mean the fastest bikes around Mugello. For your second question - all the ones you'd expect. ;)

Thanks for clarifying TJ99

Just got back from the 1299s reveal at my dealer and omg yes. Glad Im 2nd inline. April delivery date woo. It feels way lighter than the 1199 does. And we noticed the exhaust pipes are larger.

Good to meet you there flip.

regarding the Akra Slip-on for the 2015 1199R priced @ $3855 - maybe you could clear it up by finding out exactly what the kit is made up of...it seems logical that it has the Y connector as part of the kit.....what information can you share ? :D

OK, so the Akra kit does have a small Y connector, but the one with a flapper valve remains as it's part of the stock exhaust tubes.

Sorry guys but further questions will have to wait...press launch for the bike starts on Saturday!

TJ, looking forward to the first driving reports in media. Where does it take place?

Here you get them for 2,236 $ / 1,945 Euro + custom and VAT in your counry/state.

Akrapovic Exhaust System Ducati 899/1199 Panigale

that is a nice find....but, customs or taxes can be a gamble...sometimes things get thru unnoticed, other times you end up with a tax bill making it about equal or worse....its happened to me on leather suits more than once....

this set is not for the 2015 1199r...which will come with the appropriate map key

This kit you'll get from Ducati only, also with a (different) short Y-tube to connect it to the flapper valve housing of the Ti OEM system.

I am still wondering that the Akra slip-on kit from Ducati Performance does not come (according to TJ99) with the big Ti collector w/o flapper valve (like the race kit from the SL).

So on the Panigale R 2015 you do not even get a full Akra Evolution Line exhaust with this 3,856 $ kit.

it seems like we will have to wait and see - i would like to think it would be the same exhaust as the SL...i was at my Ducati dealer last week, and was told the SL exhaust retained the flapper valve, and that it stays in the fully open position (the pipe section the flapper is in was not replaced when they installed the race slip-ons) but it is possible i did not understand it 100% correctly

- TJ99 seems very well informed, and knows who to ask for the correct information....do you know, does he work for Ducati directly ?

Out of curiosity, what happens if you lose the USB stick? Is it possible to buy the stick aftermarket?

I don't know what his technical title is now, but he was the project manager for the SL. So yeah, he knows the answers!

I think your dealer did tell you something wrong, the Racing Kit of the SL contained the big Y-Ti-Collector w/o flapper valve, see images below....

The 2015 Panigale R and 2014 SL Exhaust are the exact same. It's stated on the Europe Ducati Site. Could be wrong though or I could be insanely delusional

Absolutely correct. Installed the racing kit, flapper valve is removed on the SL with the racing Y-piece. Please be aware that you need online connection with DDS, otherwise Upmap stick wont work anymore :(

For the street legal version mounted at the factory you are right, but we are talking about the not street legal Akra slip-ons available for the Panigale R 2015 from DP compared to the race kit with the same slip-ons, but obviously different flapper valve free big Ti-collector from the SL.
