Just saying, it's pretty sad if you can't even spell the name of the exotic Italian motorcycle you're buying correctly.

Very weird to be pointing these things out...

Nope it just bothers me when people have more money than brains. I asked a Ducati owner what model 999 he had. He said he didn't know. So I said, "Does it say 999S or 999R on the side?" ...."Oh I don't know." so I went and looked and told him what model it was. People like that shouldn't be allowed to own nice things, too stupid. 5 minutes later he told me he doesn't want to get the Panigale because of the belt maintenance required. Durrrrrrrr fail.

I would not be a fan of these type of folks either. I'm fortunate that my friends are serious about riding. Has nothing to do with wealth or education...ignorance is an ugly thing:D

Makes sense, there's no way the exhaust would pass homologation without some sort of trickery. It makes more noise than my Daytona Arrow exhaust with the baffles out. If this is the cause, I assume it can be mapped out. Would be interesting to see if it happens with the Termi's. Do you know if the Termi's are e marked for road use?

Slip-ons are track use only, so I doubt the exhaust valve will actuate in the interests of noise emissions.

Anyone fitted them yet?

Thanks for the first ride review paddockstand.

one question : When does the Pani's valve open in the exhaust system,(at certain rpm)? The RSV4 i had, opens up once it got into first gear and so on and closes when in neutral.

As far as I can tell the valve seems to be open all the time, other than the behavior I described above.

Right Mr Frosty... Let's just put the record straight, yes I agree with your last comment totally, but please, please don't insult me just because I didn't got back to do a spell check. I work dam bloody hard for my money, trust me, and that is what is paying for this machine, do I think paying £24k for a motorcycle is too much money.. Yes I do, but for once I think I should treat myself, because I love riding that much, and at the moment with the interest rates over here the money is best enjoyed in the form of a 'PANIGALE' than being sat in the bank...

Now if I thought the S1000RR (did I get that right?) was a better machine trust me I would have updated my 2010 model for the new 2012 model as it has slightly more lower down grunt etc than the one I had. But I didn't, I put a deposit down on a Ducati 1199 S because I personally think its the best bike Ducati have done and in my opinion is better than the Beemer in everyday apart from the price tag! If I'm honest I've never really liked any of the previous Ducati's, most of my friends have them in some form, but this one has really appealed to me, and not because it is exotic, as I don't see it as that, but because it's the most advance motorcycle on the market at the moment.

I am an advanced rider and on average spend probably on average 10 hours a day on a bike, all year around. I've been riding for the last 20 years and owned several different makes and models and had the opportunity to ride a lot of other models on top of that (which I DO know the make, model and specs of!).

I hope that qualifies as someone who DESERVES to own a Ducati 1199 Panigale S with ABS and £3k worth of extras?

Struth these forums are hard work, now through fear of boring myself, will this PANTYGALE 'Dow' hurry the hell up our summer is nearly over!!

And apologises Paddockstand, this has kinda wondered off from your outstanding write up. Sorry...

Sure.

I was just answering his question.
Seems he likes the race settings but not the display.

Sorry, didn't intend to offend. Just offering an alternative. The problem with using track mode on the road is that with default settings most of the ABS is turned off, assuming you have it. Might be better to edit sport mode to be more like race, or turn on a bit more ABS in race (if you can do that). No point in riding on the road with ABS partially turned off.

I agree paddockstand, no point paying for ABS and not using it, but either or is good the main question from me was if the display is editable etc, as not really interested in the lap time whilst riding on the road however want the full power etc on tap, so all good the fact it is totally adjustable, thanks...

How are you getting on with that side stand?

Side stand is fine once you figure it out. Just use your toes on the end of the side stand from underneath the foot peg. It's not obvious and you have to do it blind as the foot peg is in the way.

Taking the ferry to France tomorrow for a full days riding in an attempt to get as close to 600 miles as possible and unlock another 1000 rpm. Should be able to give a bit more feedback after this.

I hope you have a good day :)

Not that I would tell you how to treat your own bike, but let me just say that I won't be that strict with the rpm.

I can't see any harm coming from using the engine in the rev range where its most comfortable, so probably 6-9k rpm.

Actually, the only bike I was super strict with was my Triumph T595 - it had a proper serious sticker on the tank saying first 50 miles xx-rpm, then next 50, next 100, next 200 and so on...... it blew up at 600 miles, so just goes to show!!!

Enjoy, still waiting.....

Be carefull of those odd go the wrong way around the roundabout episodes and looking and driving on the correct side of the road whilst exiting the petrol station!

But you are probably a veteraned continent rider?!

My 675 had the exact same sticker - looks like a clock dial. This is a brand new engine design with Nikasil Aluminium liners and one of the first examples on the road, I don't want any warranty issues and so I'm going to stick to the recommendations. Might loosen up a bit after the initial oil change is done; the crud left over from manufacturing and the intial high wear rate means the oil won't be in good condition towards the end of the intial run-in.

Thats cool. Manufacturing particles are never a nice thought circulating your engine - at any speed!

If my bike turns out to be one of the would be 2-stroke crowd, then it'll have probably cycled through most of its original oil by 300 miles anyhow :D

Had the exact same thought lol. I've seen no smoke from mine at all and I've been watching carefully.

Not at all :)

I love that there's more that one way to get stuff done on this bike.

Appreciate your updates and feedback.
