First Track Day Questions

I looked at those and the speed rating is only 45 MPH. I don't know how hard that limit is. The U-Haul motorcycle trailer is 55 MPH.

If you do a TRS is that the only rigging you use or do you still tie down the front?

My friends give me grief but I tie down the front in addition to using my Pitbull TRS. It’s definitely not necessary but I already own the tie downs so what the heck.

People used to rave about TRS b/c you didn't need to tie down in front and compress the forks any more. That said, I never fully compressed the forks even when tying down in the front. Think that was what was causing issues w front tie down. Not sure why people were fully compressing in the first place.

I am with the others. They say you don't need the front strap, but if you go over a large bump nothing is keeping the front down. A little tension never hurts.

Normally, for the straps, I sit on the bike and use my weight to tensions the straps. Then give it just a tug for a little more. Way I see it, if my weight is going to blow the seals, that's going to happen while riding, so no harm to strap the same tension

I do not know the "acceptable" max speed of the HF trailer, I know a bunch of people use it. It may be tire speed rating or bearing limited. I know I've done 80-90 mph using UHaul trailers for moves within the city

I have rented Uhaul trailers many times and they work great. I now have a Kendon dual ride-up SRL trailer with the Pit Bull TRS system. Quick, easy, secure....but not cheap or enclosed. Takes up very little room in my garage and can be moved around by hand (and by one adult). No straps are required when using the TRS system.

I’m a big fan of PSR tie down clamps. They make the entire job very easy. They especially work well with brake guards.

Some video or photo I saw someone used a soft loop tie down around the top clamp and the tie down was run down along the fork leg to the tie down point.

This won’t work using Uhaul trailer since the anchor points are too far off to the side. The tie down will pull on the plastics

Good call. I have a product that's similar to the original canyon dancers that I bought at my local Ducati dealer when I took delivery of my bike. That's what I used to tie it to the U-Haul trailer I took it home with. The sales guy did bike hauling on the side and helped me tie it down.

And... this is when you should start booking the next one... and the one after.
Track days sell out and then you blink, it's October and the weather is .... for 6 months.
Bet you a €1, you're are going to want to do 2 more this season. Put 1-2 weeks in between to get in shape. But if you wait a month you return to the track more cold.

Trust me, it can't get here soon enough.

I want to get this one in so I can figure out what works and what doesn't. I think I'll have more availability in the fall with my work schedule. I need to recover the checking account from all the stuff I bought to make track day number one a reality. Its a lot of little odds and ends .... that adds up. I mean, I guess I didn't *need* to buy a new 1-peice race suit...but I wanted it. :p

I ordered a motorcycle carrier today, the Black Widow one which has a max of 600lbs. When I first saw it, it was $394 on Amazon but today it was $255. If I don't like it I'll return it. By the time I paid for the U-Haul trailer for two days and I still needed to buy a hitch and ball, I'd be close to half the purchase price. Plus if I ever wanted to take it to the dealer I don't have to ride it into the city which is a vast land of bad drivers with fake tags and no insurance.
