@bp_SFV4 you want 25-30 mm front bike and 10-15 mm rear bike sag and 40 mm front rider and 30 mm rear rider. What is your weight and did you take these measurements with or without gear?

@roadracerx
My bike is a 2015 Panigale R, stock suspension and stock gearing.
Currently the bike is on 200/60 Pirelli SPV3, tire pressure being hot 33psi front and hot 27 rear.

Weight without gear, 74kg (164lbs). With gear, 81kg (178lbs)
rider sag with gear, 30mm front and 40mm rear

Track/Street
DTC: 1 OR DTC: off
DWC: 1 OR DWC: off
EBC: 2 OR EBC: 3
ABS: 1 same

(Race of track use)
Front Compression: 15
Front Rebound: 11
Rear Compression: 12
Rear Rebound: 15

I look forward to your advice.

@DucaPaniR_Japan What is the bike sag?

That rear tire is HUGH - 671 mm in diameter as compared to the 200/60 Pirelli Diablo SBK slick at 662 mm or oem 200/55 Supercorsa at 656 mm, so what is your front fork ride height?

Front slick 120/70 and DOT are the same diameter. I don't run the new tire on the old bike because it is too tall. You mentioned the suspension is stock - if you want to use the new 200/60 SP V3 you may need to either A) get the stroke of the fork extended or B) switch to the 125/70 slick with the 200/65 slick rear.

Is this a track-only bike?

For a fast rider I generally set front compression at 8, front rebound at 10, rear compression at 10 and rear rebound at 14 click OUT.

@roadracerx
Thank you for the reply.
I didn't measure bike sag. The preload was already set and I went to double check where I was at and the rear was spot on with 30, I had to loosen preload on the front 2 full turns. I was halfway mark on the front preload which If I remember was 12 or 14 full out.
Front fork ride height, idk what is suppose to be measured but, top of fork is past the upper clamp by 6mm(before I moved it, it was showing 1mm). 300mm from bottom triple to end of the fork tube. The fork tube that compresses is 95mm showing.

Are you suggesting to go back to 200/55? I do notice the difference in ride height, at lean I can feel the tire has much more tire to grip with but as far as overall grip feel, feels the same as a 55.

The bike is set up for the track however I do ride street with the same setup. As for tires, I want to stick with SPv3 or sc2 range. I have to ride to track days.

Your settings for fast rider, is this general or based on my weight? I will take note of the settings and test it out.

@DucaPaniR_Japan please measure bike sag and let me know where you are currently. Fork ride height is the measured fork tube (only) above the top clamp. Are you using a stock top clamp?

The SP V3 IS available in 200/55 so you might consider that since you are riding on the street as well. I don't think the 200/60 SP V3 is a good choice for this bike - it is too tall, however, if you do want to use it then the front of the bike needs to be raised to compensate for the taller rear tire, therefore, set the fork flush (no fork tube above top clamp).

The settings I recommended are good for track use. If you ride on street set the front and rear compression to to 12 and 14 respectively - leave the rebound.

@roadracerx will do, I’ll measure bike sag. I’m way from my bike for a few days.
As for fork ride height, I’m at 6mm and yes, stock top clamp. if I move back to 200/55, what fork ride height do you recommend?
Noted about going flush with 200/60 though.

I’ll look forward to testing compression and rebound settings next time I’m out.

what about steering damper? Any recommendations?
what about electronics settings?

I remember reading back in this thread you also have or maybe had the R as well. Do you still have it? What would be the next bike to move into from the R? I’m advanced pace with the R.

Hey @roadracerx, thoughts on settings for first track day on my 959? Thunderhill in mid-May. Run slow intermediate pace.

Bike: 959, OZ Gass RS-A, Akra slip on so now ~422 lbs wet. Stock suspension.

Rider: 145 lbs w all gear.

Current street settings:
Front
Preload 11.5 turns
Comp 6.5 turns
Reb 6.25 turns

Rear
Preload 6 mm thread showing
Comp 3 turns
Reb 12 click

Street settings feel good. I’ve never measured true sag but seems in the ballpark.

@rac1ngsnak3 both bike and rider sag will need to be measured - you are too light for stock springs on both the fork and shock so you are surely NOT "in the ballpark". That doesn't mean that the geometry of the bike is off but it does mean that the bike likely feels a bit harsh or stiff as it deflects over bumps.

I thought as much. It’s a little crash-y over bumps but I tried “tuning” it out as much as possible with what I had.

Plan is to put on either NIX30 carts or FGRT214 and TTX GP some time in July w the correct springs. I’ll get those sag figures when I get back in town

Does anyone know the OEM spring rate for the forks of the V2? I am bottoming out with full preload and comp under very hard braking (lifting the rear a bit). Probably looking at new springs.

Thanks!

@0260n25 what is your riding weight? All bikes will lift at the rear if the rider is braking "vary hard". Do you use the rear brake at all?

I have a 2018 V4S. My weight with race gear on is 165lbs. I am currently running the suspension on dynamic. I have almost no static sag and I feel like at times im geting bounced around. Im considering removing some preload off the factory rear spring and removing dampening and adding some rebound while running fixed. Im trying to keep from having to change the rear spring to something softer. I couldn't tell you what the working length of my suspension currently is. I appreciate any advice. Thank you!

What do you recommend for us medium husky built guys, up to 250lbs with gear, V2, street ridden? TIA.

Thanks for the reply. Lifting the rear is fine; I just wanted to convey the level of braking that causes bottoming out. I'm 184 with street gear. I use the rear brake for casual riding and no rear when aggressively braking (street or track). I found the part number for the OEM springs, but no info on what they are.

@Josias 165 lbs with gear could work with stock springs. Has your bike been modified from stock? If not what is your bike and rider sag numbers front and rear?

If these help the post. These is for a V4s technical info and system .
