So , I owned a 18 V4S first year production of the new Panigale with the V4. Great bike I absolutely loved it compared to the 2014 1199s dark that I had an also loved …. Both bikes respectively were in my opinion game changers for their respective year when brand new … I’m beside myself in what Ducati was able to deliver in this 21 Panigale V4SP . I’ve never ridden a bike with the front end feel that just breeds and instills confidence in the rider ….. it just provides you feedback and tells you push harder I got you ! The harder the bike is ridden it seems like the more stable it is . Whatever those crazy Italians from Bologna have figured out it works !!!

Totally agree, my sentiments exactly also coming from a 2018 V4S, previously to that on the 2013 1199. I love my V4SP (#217) The 2018 V4S front end feel had a vagueness as you picked up the pace I didn’t care for and when I rode a 2020 V4R I really loved its feedback. Confidence inspiring. It’s almost as if it improved as you went faster. Well, it’s clear this was implemented on the V4SP. I believe this was from the V4R frame inclusion on the 2021 model. Of course lighter wheels certainly help. They surely did it right on the V4SP. Got 3 days on track this weekend lined up cant wait.

The 18 S and 20 R have altogether different suspension hence different feel. The SP shares the electronic suspension from the S, which is underwhelming to a degree. I believe the fork spring rates were the change between the year models on the S.
The electronic suspension models need some work done to the suspension internals if you running any sort of respectable pace on a track.

Yes it’s true the manual clickers and suspension is different, better. That’s why I felt the frame was the commonality from the V4R to the V4SP. Ohlins stuff close but that wasn’t the variable IMO. I rode the V4R for a couple days on track prior to riding the V4SP. Upon inspection spring rate, preload all changed as well from my notes comparing 18 V4S to V4SP. I was actually leaning to the V4R as I was more comfortable with manual setup but figured I would try to get the dynamic stuff to work on track. One of my instructors races a V4R in MotoAmerica so I have insight to his and Larry Pegram’s setup. Of course, the V4R pivot also introduces adjustability we do not have on the V4SP. Even so, it’s close. I am swapping springs this weekend to get the suspension dialed in.

I hate the dynamic suspension, I just use the electronics in fixed mode and use the dash instead of manual clickers.

Exactly what I did. There is a reason no one races the dynamic setup. It’s weird but almost like your mind is ahead of the dynamic adjustment and feels obtrusive at times. Seems like it’s fine for the street but challenging on track as you pick up the pace. I know some club racers who do well on BMW / Honda dynamic suspension setups and I think Honda stuff relatively the same. I just don’t care for it. We’re making curriculum for next season within a Ducati based performance riding course so I need to learn more about its usage/nuance. Many of our riding clinic track day customers will most likely have these bits versus proper race suspension. Of course I can always look back to my manual settings on my 1199 as the ohlins setup is relatively close across applications 1199->V4S->V4SP when you take the dynamic stuff out of the equation

Love that track, been many years since I rolled around Barber. Who’s running the event ? N2 ? STT?

IIRC, all of the 2020+ bikes have the R frame, which is suppose to flex more. This was accomplished by cutting out a portion.
