Hey all, new owner of a ‘19 V4S. How do you guys manage range tracking and refueling? How many miles do you typically get out of the reserve?
My last bike, a BMW, had all sorts of creature comforts including a gas gauge. But I’m no stranger to counting the miles; my previous ride was a Yamaha with only a mechanical trip odometer to track fuel use. With that bike I had a few instances of forgetting to reset when I refueled, lots of filling up a half empty tank, and a few touchy moments near the end of the reserve.
I get that the fuel in a V4 will spend most of its time at the back of the tank, whether through acceleration force or the front wheel being pointed at the sky... but the electronics seem to track fuel usage and mileage, providing enough for the screen to calculate fuel. I scoured the manual but the only display function I found for miles remaining was a count up from zero that displays when you hit reserve. Nice feature, but when I hit reserve I will likely head directly to a station. Thankfully this bike is light enough to push if needed.
