Just brought a new 1299 4 wks ago had problems ever since I rode it away chain rubbing on swingarm, took it back they checked it put a new chain on,rode 5ks happened again so now taking it back for a swingarm replacement,I'm hoping that's all it is.Anyone else have stalling issues taking off from the lights??

It's not the heat from under the seat, it's the heat from the Subframe on your leg. And yes, if you leave your leg on it you will burn the .... out of yourself, wear leathers or Kevlar jeans and it's not painful, just uncomfortable. Some carbon subframe covers fix-ish this issue enough you don't notice it.

I'm not sure how you can say it's not the heat from under the seat. The seat itself gets hotter than hell and the heat comes from somewhere under the seat. I get more heat on the seat itself than I do in my leg. I'm sure it does heat up the subframe too, I just don't agree that heat under the seat is not an issue.

But to the person who asked the question, it is only a bad issue on hot days riding in stop and go driving. This time of year I really don't notice it at all unless I'm stopping a lot in traffic, and even then it's not too bad.

My 07 R1 was horrendous is warm stop and go traffic as well ,, downfall of both bikes exhaust routes

Easy fix is track it ;)

i actually agree with the other guy I put on Carbon subframe covers and it helped immensely. I also wrapped my headers, put reflective tape on a termi heat shield and made it fit and the heat really isnt nearly as noticeable.

A friend of mine just got a replacement 1299S from Ducati as the Dealer couldn't figure out how oil was leaking into the air box of his original 1299S

2015 Pani-R...first its in the air box, then on the floor...as it collects in the air box, it finds its way to the drain hose and out through the bottom of the bike....

my motor was just "refreshed" at the dealer since i lived with that condition all riding season....they replaced some internal engine parts:

-Piston Rings
-Piston
-Cylinder Sleeve

Thanks for the reply. :D

I moved from Indianapolis to Dallas last year, and the way I ride my bike has changed accordingly - the heat is just so crazy down here compared to the Midwest. But I see you're in Houston, so you know that even more so than I do. ;)

I guess I need to wait for one of those 95/100 degree days and take one out for a ride to see if I can handle it...lol

i must say, i hear a lot of people having issues (other than heat) from the panigale on the forum and also 1 other person i know personally. I however, have not had one real issue with the bike, its amazing how different people can have with the experience of the same bike... maybe it is the fact that it is hand built (I worked for HD when I was in college and it was completely automated so they could mitigate failure).

I have had one issue with my bike, I changed the windscreen out, left the bike outside for a few hours in the blazing florida sun, and i melted the dash. Dash was replaced with no questions asked by my dealer. That was my one and only issue i have had. Heat...well i owned an R1 prior and that was also hot. As for the rapid bike or PC, i planned on getting the bike tuned anyway so it wasn't a thought.

I have thrown a lot of money into my bike with CF wheels, exhaust, upgrades, track fairings, subframe, etc etc but that was bound to happen regardless if i owned a ducati or any other bike, its part of the passion of riding... is there a ducati tax so to speak? absolutely! do i want to pay it, not exactly. But i will say, with the thousands and thousands i have put into my bike, it is by far my favorite bike I have ever owned, hands down.

I feel bad that people have issues with their bikes, regardless if its a panigale, Kawi, BMW (and i know my BMW friends have some stupid funny issues with their bikes, consistently), Honda, Yamaha etc... But i see the bike for me as what it is, it is a toy. It is a greatly fun, amazingly fast, loud grunting toy. As with all toys, they cost money. :)

Serious question, what is "wrong" with the way the bike runs in stock form (OEM exhaust and no tuner)? Any by "wrong" I mean will the bike not get somebody around town or even around the track ok?

I know there are power gains to be had and the curve can be smoothed out with a tuner, but that doesn't mean something is necessarily wrong with the OEM setup.

Even if there is a dip in power, it still makes a ton of torque even at the lowest point of the dip...more than just about all other sportbikes at that same RPM.

I am kinda feeling left out here. Apart from the left hand indicator wiring loom recall fix (30 mins in the shop) and having the gear position sensor recalibrated (30 mins) I have not had any problems with my 2012 1199s.

does anyone remember poor old 'Elitesoldier357" and the story of how his bike caught fire ?? What ever happened to him ?

No V-twin bike that's built for maximum performance is going to run truly faultlessly out of the box and still meet emissions and noise regulations. What some people call "upgrades" I call "restoring the motor to its originally designed fueling and noise level".

What you buy off the floor for $25k isn't a perfect machine as is. It's a perfect race bike, with a couple governmental balls and chains bolted to it. Get rid of the balls and chains, and it WILL run properly. It'll also be faster too, but most importantly, it'll run right. No stalling, no power dips, no hiccups.

It's a small thing I know but Ducati motors have always been a L twin there is a difference . Harleys are V twins .

Must be lucky .

Nope.

I'm on my second Ducati in 5 years. had the most minor issue that did not effect performance. "Fairing discolored"

Both the 848 and my 1199 have been the best two bikes I have owned since I was 15 and bought my first two bikes with my first two paychecks working through highschool.

I beat on these bikes, most of the miles I have put on been redlining miles.

I love my bike as well maybe got a stiffy but never beat myself on them . Glad to hear your passionate about your bikes .

Nope.

I've owned 5 Ducati's, every one of them has been problem free. I now have a 1299 and it may be my favorite bike yet.

Yup.

Monster 1100, Multistrada S, Multistrada Pikes Peak, '12 1199Tri, '15 R...no major issues...awesome bikes...loads of fun!

...in the interest of being fair and balanced....

I have to echo the recent sentiment here - I am on my 3rd Duc and out of all three bikes, have only had one warranty-related claim that was fixed without any issues.

M796 had 19,000+ miles
M1100 EVO had 17,000+ miles
M1200S has 9,000+ miles

I have to admit that I (knock on wood) have yet to experience the dreaded Ducati gremlins, but there does seem to be some noise around issues with the 1299. Could be as simple as the typical first year production run problems, but I would expect them to get sorted out.

Not sure you meant it this way, but the way you worded this suggests that your experience has been bad.
