Folks, I love ripping through my gears. The bike pops and exhaust explodes and shoots flames. Just seems less efficient to upshift by lifting up

Vote in the poll to let us know if your Up-Shifting by stomping down on the gear selector. Also I’d like to know which RearSets you’re using

Thank you DucatiFriend,

been going back and forth over the past 2 decades.

nothing better on track.

can't see myself wanting it on a dirtbike.

I use Ducabike rearsets and just standard shift but it is nice knowing that the rearsets can be switched to gp shift easily if I want to try

Sticking with standard shift pattern. There are 6 bikes in the garage and they are different enough it takes a few to adapt my riding style to each without throwing shift pattern in there as well.

Standard rearsets for now, but if/when I change I will get the Attack

Only when I raced a Yamaha TZ250 did I use GP shift. It took me a bit to get used to. But once I did, I didn't find any practical benefit. My streetbike based racebikes were all standard shift. I once met Kevin Schwantz, America 500GP champ and racer. I had heard he used standard shift on all his motorcycles including his GP bikes. He confirmed he did. Said he was used to standard shift and so all his race bikes were standard shift.

IMO, to each his own.... your bike, do what you want...

Ok so I have gp shift in my Duc 1299, BMW S1000RR, BMW S1000R and in my Harley Dyna. When I installed a 124 motor into my Harley I upgraded the entire clutch basket, new chain with a front sprocket. And upgraded my stock transmission to a Baker Grudge Transmission which gave the option of regular shifting or reverse shifting. Except neutral is all the way up top. In 2016 when I bought my S1000RR you have the option of flipping over this bracket and making it gp shif. Same with my S1000R. My buddy flipped both brackets over because he was borrowing both bikes when he needed them. I actually got used to the gp shift (although one or two times I got confused when i pulled the clutch in and didnt understand why the bikes werent maneuverable. Kind of like if you dont give throttle on a wave runner. And it wont maneuver because of lack of power lolol). So I got used to the gp shift and wound up buying 3 different rearsets for all 3 bikes with gp shiftingn. But the lightechs for my bmws and cnc racing for the duc went back and forth after i sold the previous ones. Then sold them and upgraded (nice to be a dealer). But i sold my cnc racing rps silver/black ones two months ago and installed the cnc racing rpa evo that are only gp shift. And when I installed the S&S 124 on my dyna last year I installed the reverse shift Baker Grudge Tranny. I have gp shift because i got used to the setup on my BMWs.

Now that I wrote that novel. I will say this. 5% of people who get gp shift actually race and are great at using it and I understand why they use it since ive tracked my bikes on the track and felt the benefit. Although Im far from someone that NEEDS gp shift in the track but nice to have. The other 95% of gp shift users just like to show off lol

I love race shift! All my bikes are converted to that. For me it is the only way. I run Attack Performance rearsets

On old farm bikes, "GP" shift was standard :) so I have had a bit of pre-programming mentally but I changed over when I got the 1299 and TBH I've never looked back. Its so easy to tappity tap tap on the way up especially with the quickshifter.
