Handling in the wet

Ok Bud whatever floats your boat
They are classed as road tyres also so should have some ability in the wet..Agreed not to be ridden hard like i said i wasn't doing..but they are still awful for a ROAD Tyre..Pirelli reckons they are safe in the wet, according to their own description, i beg to differ.
As soon a better tyre for all conditions comes out i'll be junking these Supercorsa's...

Actually, the Supercorsa's are Pirelli's track tire that can be used on the road legally. They do not claim them to be an all weather road tire. As a previous member stated, they are basically road legal slicks. The bike was designed around them, to be used in dry conditions optimally. Also, like another member stated, read your owners manual section about TC settings. The wet mode was also designed around the Pirelli rain tires.

If you're just looking to jaunt around town and not really push the bike to the edge, then by all means, use whatever high milage tire you wish, it's probably to your benefit. But if you plan on really using the electronics and pushing the bike, there is no substitute for the Supercorsa's, they are amazing. A different, high mileage tire will probably get you hurt.

Good luck!

The Supercorsa's fitted to the bike are the SP version. A race tire no doubt, but wouldn't go as far as saying its a DOT slick. The SC version's better for that category. Both versions have been taken to the track and I felt the SC1's were far superior in traction and ease to heat up. I think the SP is a perfectly matched tire for the bike's intended use on the road. Both are a purposely very soft carcass tire in comparison to say a Bridgestone or a Dunlop.

I think it boils down to having realistic expectations for both the bike and the Supercorsa. It's a race bike sitting on a race tire and you should have no expectation that it should perform in the rain imo. It really shouldn't be ridden in a downpour tbh. If you have no choice other than to fit a diff tire on it, I would be equally concerned about the new tire's carcass, the ability to handle the torque and hp, and adverse effects to DTC - dry or wet.

In the same vein, I also feel its flawed logic to sacrifice the performance of the bike and choose a tire based on tread wear. I never understood the argument of potentially increasing the risk of potentially thousands of dollars of damage to the bike to increase tire life of a $300 rear tire by what, 30%? I just expect to get <2k miles on the rear and factor that into my tire budget and rip around on the intended tire. The peace of mind is worth more than the $90.

There have been people fitting 190 rears on the track for quicker turn in with good results. No personal experience but perhaps that puts the S1K's Metzler in the running. But again, it's all an experiment outside the Supercorsa IMO.

I never mentioned anything about a tyre for higher mileage.
I'm used to getting around 2k out of a rear as I've run a 999 for the past 3 years.
I just want some comparable performance in the wet as I get with Michelin Pilot Power tyres which are very sticky in the dry and very stable in the wet.
I live in an area of very changeable conditions so I could leave the house in bright sunshine then half an hour later be scratching on mountain roads in the wet.
I run a 180 rear on my 999 which does make the bike turn quicker but when I asked the dealer about running a 190 on the Pni he said it was a big no no as the profile on the 200 rear compensates for quicker turning. He also said it would muck up the DTC.
For now I won't take the bike out if there's a chance of rain which is a shame.
Like I said I'm very happy with the SC tyres in the dry.

For Fall, Winter, early spring I use the Pirelli Angels, they are great in wet (and do better when cold).
