Haha good point! Oh we'll, adds some fun for those who don't actually pay attention to what they are reading I think they call that subliminal messaging

For me at least, it's pretty clear that the head is the source of the heat that makes the bike uncomfortable. Heat from the head is the heat I was talking about. For the head, sure. But for the exhaust, doesn't seem like that would increase engine heat any. I'll hit like 220 degrees stuck in traffic, but then it does regulate itself. So seems like it would do the same, or could be tweaked with software since the thing is just one big computer. Or...riders start to appear to spontaneously combust as the magnesium parts of the engine ignite.

That is really good news. I was starting to notice the heat problem as well and now it is nice in chilly in Texas, but when summer comes boy.... i dont want to think about it. so it is perfect timing! Glad Ducati is fixing these issues. I will call my dealer as well.Mystery solved! It is a heatshield update, for both exhausts types- wider heat shield extension for the bottom right, and a new sheild for the rear of the cylinder head. All customers will get a mailing explaining this. All free.
Soulrider, this is funny. you cracked me up. Tks LOLA pic of the fix.
Complete with thermal inserts.
+1
But where will they reroute said heat? Just allow the bike to run alot hotter doesn't seem like a good idea either. Optimistically skeptical.
wow, that just made me really dislike Ducati (for a few minutes), so bad i had to go out and stare at my USA version for at least 15 minutes to help the trauma going on inside my brain. I guess if i lived in Japan, (Land of the Scooters and Smart Cars) maybe i wouldn't be so offended by this rendition of our beloved pani, but i don't and now i must live with that vision of our bike being violated....
Pretty sure the new rear head heat shield will look like this:
Sorry, The Japanese-Spec Panigale is Not a Hoax
I remembered seeing early on. The restm of the loop will probably have a thicker and longer edge.
(poor Japanese riders have to dealmwith that pipe!)
i
have the comfort seat, i dont know if thats the reason but i dont find the bike getting that hot. Honestly i feel this issue is way overblown. For the record the only time i feel the heat of this bike is if i am ridding in shorts. It takes about 45 min to start to feel. the heat comes off the clutch cover (you know big gold round thing on the right side). I feel it on my calf and when i get off the bike its all red. Simple solution is dont wear shorts. if i am wearing jeans (regular or kevlar) i dont feel it and if i am in a race suit i dont feel it either.

My base is serial # 2552.
As soon as I noticed this thread I got on the horn with my service rep. He had not heard about the whole thing but promised to inquire right away.
He left a message on my cell this afternoon to tell me that this far into production, all the bikes were equipped with the update and that only the earliest versions were affected.
Maybe that's the reason why I never thought the heat was an issue...
