Heat issues, addressed today by Ducati!

I'm content that I'm riding a bike that's made by a company that listens to its customers. I have to say that as an Audi owner this is reminiscent of that brand.

I've been riding in 100+ days and the heat is bearable and I'm more concerned about when I'm gonna get to ride it next than whether its hot ;)

Was out riding today.. (on my way home from work) and boy.. I really could have done to what ever mod they have in the pipeline to address the inner thigh griller.
Was 45+*C, the air felt like it had come straight fromt he oven. I was actually thinking I should have worn my full face helmet and leather to insulate my skin from the hot air.
It the first time my legs really felt uncomfortably hot from the rear head/er.

I've treated my 1199 Base model with ceramic coating to the exhaust system and it made enough of a difference to highly recommend spending the $300-$400. (I did also take out the exhaust flap).

That said, it wouldn't take too much additional heat shield in the right places to also do the trick, which hopefully Ducati have perfected. The new parts should make my bike really cool - but wait, its a Panigale, so its already cool!

So, as soon as someone gets the new parts, please post up some pics!

Sorry but thats ......... They JUST announced the update as its just completed production. Id call your dealer back and if they give you the same ...., find a new dealer. NO bikes have came with update built before last week.

Turns out you were right! Got back on the phone and ended up E-mailing the letter posted earlier on this thread and it seems that the regional rep learned about this through my inquiries.
Apparently, Canadian models will be updated in March, which makes perfect sense since we're all busy sledding.

Glad to hear it. Im also glad your dealer didn't just blow you off and that you will be getting the upgrade!

They made it possible for you to go to your Ducati dealer and buy a flicking fairing. Woohoo!

southeasyjay,

So your dealer actually called you to inform you of this on their own initiative? Wow, that's pretty cool.

Yes, they actually forwarded me the email they got soon as they got it. I was the first to buy a 2013 from them, they seem to stay on top of everything for me so far.. Im happy so far. I would think all the dealers would be doing the same thing for all their customers since Ducati is paying the dealership for doing the work, i would think that would be a quick way to guarantee some extra work for their shops in the down season? Seems silly to me that dealers arent calling all their customers immediately....

Interesting!

Not sure what it would look like - chances are it will cover the head similar to the Japanese model. At the same time the Panigale R has a carbon heat shield which has a different shape to it. It could be that, who knows!

i remember the rumor since midseason 2012 that there will be some corrections about the heat-problem with the panigale.
i think doing that at the beginning of the next season is the common way.

My understanding is that it is not just a replacement shield for over the exhaust. It is made of up more than one piece designed to redirect the air flow as well as shield the heat.

Thousands of customers unhappy: no response
One or two customers burn selves: recall.

Funny, in a sick sort of way.

There is quite a legal significance between a product that people are unhappy with, and a product that causes injury. I'm sure as some Ducati attorney got wind of an actual complaint of injury, lawyer alarms started going off very loudly.

im not sure wat they will do with the exhaust im assuming that it will still be steel or alloy with thin double layer

however i did get a picture of japans model which is posed to cover right side of the bike cylinder clutch cover. which will reduce engine noise and heat.

i hope its a choice thing as i wouldnt want to cover the engine cylinder

southeasyjay,

Who is your dealer? Maybe I should start buying from them... sounds like they actually pay attention to their customers...
