Hi all,

Just joined up although have had my 1199s since May last year.
Been riding 34 years, bike list is long so I won't bore you, most recent are RSVR factory, 1098s and now the Pani.

Looking forward to browsing around

Hey flipper! Welcome to the forum! Lots of great people and info here to browse.

So with all of your years of experience and long list of bikes owned...what are your thoughts on the Pani?

Fellow Irish Man here albeit living in NY at the moment, congrats on the bike there can't be too may of them in Dublin right now,

Cheers,
I love it, it's a brilliant bike. A little dissapointed with the mid range, not a major gripe but I feel they could have tuned the road versions for more mid range torque and kept the track bias for the "R".
As said not a major issue just a shame to loose a characteristic us V-Twin owners have come to know and love. I reckon their thinking has been a little over shadowed by their fall off in World Supers (not changing the rules to suit them anymore ;) ) the little things like the rear exhaust heat issue, not a problem here with our ...... climate but it seems to be a major pain in hotter climes.
In fairness to them they are trying to address the issues as they come up (new maps for mid range, revised heat shield etc). Mind you most manufacturers including Ducati over estimate the value of race results versus bike sales. Personally I'm not bothered whether they're winning races, I buy my bikes based on my own likes and dislikes, always have. The days of "race on Sunday, sell on Monday" are long gone, just look at Suzuki, they've hardly won a race never mind a championship on the world stage for years , but Gixxers still sell well.

Sorry went off on a tangent there, short answer, love the bike, one of my favourites :D

You're not missing much here, are you long gone ? before or after we fell in the crapper ?

Mine's the first of 2 official imports as far as I know. 3 or 4 imported from the North and UK. That's for the whole country not just Dublin.

I am out a while i was working in london for 8 years before moving to NY about 4 yrs ago so i missed all the action but the roller-coaster has still affected me. I was back there in Oct for a number of weeks and saw quite a few 1098's and 1198's around dunlaoghaire and the city centre.

Good luck with the bike there are some great roads around the dublin mountains

Dun Laoghaire's close to my neck of the woods. Usually do a loop over the Wicklow Gap and on out into Carlow and back to Aughrim or Laragh for the breakfast on Sunday's.

Welcome Flipper.

Glad you like the Pani.

My better half is from the west coast, so lots of great trips we've had.

Ooh, my head aches just thinking about it :p

Thanks for your thoughts on the Pani! I agree, buy what you want because you want to and not because who rides it, if it wins races or magazine shoot outs...

I haven't got the new map installed yet but are your mid range thoughts with the new map installed?

I have the map installed but I haven't had a chance to try it out yet. Weather here is crap + salty roads  but I'll post if I get the chance to try it out. I intend to change the gearing but I hope to try the new map before I change anything.
