Damn, that sucks.

I had someone do the same thing to another bike I owned and they were honest enough to come inside the establishment I was at to inform me that they had just backed into my bike. Too bad the same didn't happen in your case.

unhappy to see this happen, trust you find the person who did it.

This sucks man... i feel for you. Karma will definitely catch up to the person that did this. This is what makes me wish motorcycles would be allowed to park on side walks. But i guess thats too third-worldish.

I've never had any issues parking up on sidewalks near a business. It is definitely safer than leaving the bike in the parking lot unless there is a blocked off spot dedicated for motorcycles.

More than the money aspect of it all, when I went out it was like seeing a loved one who'd been hit by a car lying in the street. I had to tell myself, "another few seconds on the ground won't do any more damage," while I took out my camera. But in reality I just wanted to get her back upright and make sure she was still alive.

Fired right up, btw. Had to bend the clutch lever back into place, but other than that (and the new angle of the clip-on), I was impressed with how the Pani stood up to whatever monstrosity knocked her down. There's a serious bend to the kickstand, which remained 'down' even while lying on the ground, so I'm guessing it functioned like a mini pole vault, which caused the clip on to bend so far. A high-side while parked, basically.

Note: if you ever have to pick up a Panigale, turn around so your butt is facing the tank. Grab the clip on with one hand and the tail section with the other and lift.

I have an extra clutch lever if you want

Sorry to hear this. Accidents happen but some people do not have any decency.

Woke up this morning, sun was shining, birds were chirping, then I remembered what happened last night and it's been gloomy ever since.

I'll check the lower triple clamp for damage--thanks, Phil.

1199r8--thanks for the offer. If my insurance company is slow to respond, I'll take you up on the clutch lever just to keep me riding until she's fixed up.

As minddecay points out, at least I wasn't on the bike when it happened. Get better soon, dude. I was hit by a car while riding my bicycle and the old lady kept driving, then parked....when I limped over to accosted her she hadn't even realized she'd run me down.

That sucks. Especially the car driver that booked from the scene.

Any function where alcohol and parallel parking is involved would not be a scenario I would have my Panigale.

My stomach flipped when I read the title of this thread.

I'm feel gutted and angry for you, Dennis.

Al.

Wow, that's terrible. Sorry to hear, but be thankful you weren't on it!

Sorry to hear about this Anti. I am glad you are safe and good luck to a speedy recovery for your Pani. I was hit while at a traffic light a few months ago. He said the sun was in his eyes. Insurance was quick and fixed her as good as new. I hope it works out for you as quickly.

I'm going to email the event coordinator, who has a list of all the people who attended. There's silver/grey paint on the right side fairing from the bumper, but even with all that I doubt the Menlo Park police would do any sort of cross checking or CSI work.

sorry to see/read this. just curious menlo park NJ?

Menlo Park, CA. And nope--no witnesses have come forth, no suspects, nada. State Farm has been extremely responsive and the bike is now in the shop awaiting teardown to determine the extent of the damage. When I took it in the tech pointed out that adjustable stop on the lower triple was also torn off in the impact, so that will need replacement as well. Let's hope he finds nothing else wrong under the bodywork!

ahh good luck. i just realized how dumb my question was. if it were nj it would be too cold to have the bike out. sorry buddy i hope your bike is well soon

Antihero,

I've been reading this thread since you posted it and I have been quiet due to the bad language that wanted to come out of my mouth to describe the A-hole who just drove away. Your bike should be inducted into Ducati's hall of Fame! Or at least their Museum in Italy. I am sorry this happened after everything your bike went through such as the miles, heat, cold rain, snow, off road, altitude changes and made the coyotes bow down to it. Hopefully this won't happen to your "R" :)
