How do YOU break in a new bike?

god DAMN! Sounds nice. It’s always nice when it’s a legit Dyno with airflow. I don’t think I could handle a bike like that. I like pushing my sound systems to the max and staying on the throttle until I can feel the atmosphere heat up around me as I go for a land speed record

soo what do u do with that bad ... bike? How much longer than stock is the swing arm?
I think I’d need Velcro to keep my ... in the seat

It's my adrenaline fix.
I've had a 1000hp CTSV and the work it took to get there sucks. A car takes a lot of time and resources to make fast, or at least my definition of fast.
A turbo bike at 400hp crushes any car up to about 2000hp. In which case if I ever needed I can just add more PSI and I got your .... It's just my toy.

It's actually a stock swing arm..one of these days I'll get a 4" extended arm. That will help stabilize the bike at speed and I like the look of a very small stretch. Stock it looks like the rear wheel is too far in.

Here's the toys

An old friend I rode with, his dad has a 1999 Busa (think it was the year before they implemented the Euro speed restrictions) and he had a Mr. Turbo setup, the thing would literally wheelie in any gear, I believe with only 6lbs. of boost it was making 315whp.

Ah Mr turbo was the .... back in the day. The best kits out there IMO now are RCC.
Garrett turbos, great stainless header
Water to air intercoolers
Under boost in 6the gear doing 120...bang the throttle and up the wheel goes. It's a .... your pants moment if you aren't used to it

I was just drawing up plans to install mini split ac units in the garage. Very very nice!

I don’t see the CTS-V and now u gotta show me that thing. The Benz looks nice tho, right color. Windshield is a little dark

The CTSV was a 2010.
I didnt take too many pictures of that car. I have one when we pulled the cam out but it just from the back of the car. Nothing special.

The benz has 5% all the way around. Windshield has a clear UV film. 70/30.
Keeps so much radiant heat out it's great. Being in AZ anything to help is appreciated. Only has a slight bluish tint to it. Like a contact.

For the AC go with a mr cool DIY model. Bad ... units.
I have 2 24k units. Cost about $8 a month to run them 24/7. I have IT equipment in the garage and 2 fridges so they run all the time

Picked up my latest bike (2019 V4S Corse) from the dealer, easy ride home. Changed clothes, checked tire pressure and went out and rode it like it was stolen. Bike has been solid since, just the "normal" clutch issues which has been solved with an Oberon slave cylinder.

These bikes are taken to redline in every gear and absolutely hammered on for 12 minutes on a dyno before ever leaving the factory. Then they’re hooked up to a smog machine and left at idle for almost 30 mins. That debunked all of the break in myths for me.

Indeed, thank you

Just curious how you know this, or is this just secondhand information from someone else?

Standard procedure. You wouldn’t believe what they do to mclarens and Ferrari’s right off the truck.
I just say if u spank it hard right off the bat, change the oil after 100-200 miles

If DUCATI breaks all the Panigale engines in from the factory doing what was stated above, then why not just declare that in the owners manual and just tell the owner to change the oil after the first 200 miles?

Instead they put a recommended break-in of 620 miles, 1500 miles, and then ride it up to red-line beyond that?

I am just not following logically, I would honestly like to see some technical article or hear that from an actual Ducati engineer that knows this. IMO, they can be driven hard right from the factory, but that is just me. I just like to see evidence that this is actually what Ducati does.

I think it’s more a matter of not wanting to be liable for new riders on new bikes pushing them too hard.
621 miles is a good time to check chain tension and nut and bolt torques. There are components breaking in but it’s not the engine, guaranteed

if there was potential to hurt the engine, there would be restrictions like a hard redline limiter at 5k rpm. My bikes have all seen redline right off the bat. That’s what they’re built for... but I am OCD with maintenance time/mileage tables soo they all run flawlessly

the Superleggera gets a new engine or rebuild ever 3,000 miles or so. U think there’s a 600 miles break in period where they need to be babied? I certainly would not be paying those prices for a bike that needs to be babied ever few thousand miles. But I wouldn’t buy one anyway

I also don’t believe these bikes have any restrictions below 621 miles. Tuesday is Dyno day for pre 621 miles and then we’ll get back down there once the dealer resets the maintenance light. And then another with a slipon and no tune, and then hopefully an excellent tune and some more Dyno runs. June is going to be a fun month

Well that is cool, so they did this for all the engines per the guys on the floor? It wasn't just a few one-offs for some other reason then?

They stated that it’s protocol for every single bike rolling off the line before it gets to the final detail phase.

Chinese manufacturers probably state the same thing too but having a company with a pedigree like Audi/Ducati... I believe that statement to be fact. Quality for every single machine is paramount

Good points, I was just curious and all, it's how my mind works.

Cool, thanks for the info, I am gonna start letting her lose then. I already have 190 miles on it, it's painful to not take it to red-line when not accelerating to get on the highway or just tooling around.
