Loving this build... I love tinkering as well, I just don't have the skill to match up with the desire... :p Good luck! Can't wait to see the finished product.

Could you please share a pic of the bracket you made to mount the 1199 sub frame to the 899 tank? This is something I would like to do as well.

No problem. I have a few photos posted but it may be hard to really see with everything in the way. Here are some photos of the 3d model with a little bit of description.

I can absolutely print you a couple of parts if you decide to go with the 1199 subframe for weight savings. I'll even print them in a color of your choice. Red, black or blue. haha

I can also add all dimensions if someone wants to machine it from aluminum. I've thought about going this route too.

Hindsight 20/20, I should have countersunk the phillpis heads holding the bracket to the frame. I'll probably do that the next time I have the tank off. It'll probably be off again this weekend for paint.

It's been a little bit since I've had some real progress, I FINALLY had a couple of hours this afternoon to get working on the beast, so here we go:

1: Removed OEM Showa forks and installed the Ohlins FGRT forks
2: Set fork height to 9.5mm from top of triple tree to top of forks
3: PROPERLY setup the clipons, bars and steering damper
4: Finally hooked up the radiator hoses and filled with coolant
*** Have to remember to burp the system at the first start-up
5: Put fluid in the clutch line
6: Sanded down the tank and primed it. Also sprayed flat black for stripe

Starting to look like a REAL bike now, excited to see the finished product!

Thanks man. I’ve got quite a bit of work to do still before getting it up to BrenTuning. I’m wondering if i’ll Be able to just start it up with the 899 Ecu to get things worked out before getting it up there.

Sunday looks like a wash. My fiancé has booked a bunch of houses to look at. So it’s just this week really after work each day to get things straight. I’m hoping my fairings get here soon. It’s been 6 weeks since I’ve ordered them....

Can I get your guys' opinions on this paint scheme on my tank? I'm not sure how I feel about it and I may just strip it and go full red.

It is supposed to eventually match a scheme similar to the 1299 Anniversario fairings with red white and black. Anyway, please let me know your opinions and don't hold back.

Thanks guys. I've been waiting almost two months for my fairings.... still don't know when they're going to show up

So, crazy question... I should have done my research prior to ordering.

There is a guy here who is selling his Fullsix Carbon brake lever guard because it won’t fit into woodcraft bars. Is this a true statement? Has anyone managed to get it to fit a woodcraft bar, and if so, how?

I ordered on about a week ago, and now am trying to plan ahead to get this to fit my woodcraft bar. I’m determined to get it to fit, so if no one here has done it I’ll be sure to post a detailed description of what I do.

Alright,.... I can’t even believe I’m typing this, but I have to take advantage of an opportunity.

I’ll be posting the bike for sale in the classifieds section. I’m going to post all Parts at a discounted price for forum members. I’m going to be posting all of these same parts for sale on eBay also.

I’m going to be losing about $5k total on this. I’m over $22k total on all parts, and am going to list everything for around $17k. It’s more than I would get if I sold the bike whole. I’d probably have a hard time getting $15k even when it’s finished.

If anyone is interested in any parts please PM me. I’m going to start posting parts in the classifieds.

I may have posted the classifieds a little premature. I'd like to see if there is interest in the big ticket items (frame, engine, forks, fairings, exhaust, wheels) before parting it out. Otherwise I'll finish it and post it on craigslist, ebay and the 13xforums.

If anyone is interested in the big ticket items let me know.

I don't know man, there's some crazy things going on right now, and I want to keep the bike, but also want to take advantage of this business opportunity. Basically I don't want to get rid of the little items and still be stuck with big items I can't unload. I can only do the business opportunity if I unload the big items.

I know that probably makes no sense at all. But I need an additional $15k to get in on this deal, and I'm not going to make that with all the little parts. The only way I will get a decent chunk of change is if I sell the big items, then I will feel comfortable selling the little items off as people need them.

So basically if I can't sell the big items I will not be able to get in on the deal, and I will just finish the bike. If I can sell the big items, then everything goes and I will be good to go.

It's confusing, but it's hard to explain.

Poor ....... ,what a dilemma,oh well you gotta go where your gut takes ya, good luck man.

I feel like we just went through the same situation lol.

Near completing our builds and then sell the project...never even got to ride them. Life happens man, but good on you for staying true to your priorities.

Ok, so I'm back from my business trip, and it looks like I'm going to just keep moving forward with the build. I'm kinda happy because I really want to see how this beast does on the track. I know its going to need a lot of suspension tuning to get everything right, but thats the fun part!

My fairings, rotors, brake guard, and my seat all came while I was gone.

Honestly, I'm not really happy with the quality and finish of the fairings. I'm going to be sending them a message to see if they can make a proper matte finish set without some of the flaws these have.

I am having a problem that I'm hoping someone could help me out with. I bought a set of Galfer "standard" Wave Rotors, and it seems like something is off between the wheels, the forks, or the rotors.

I have measured the rotors, and they are the correct 15mm offset. Somehow I can't mount the calipers.... The closest I can get them is 1/4" from the proper location, and that's with the caliper pistons fully compressed into the caliper and the pads also fully compressed.

Does anyone know if the Ohlins Forks might have a different caliper mount offset, of if the Marchesini wheels might require a spacer between the rotor and the wheel?

Yup, you need spacers! ;)

I glanced through this thread but didn't see anything on the manufacturer of the fairings. Can you tell me who made them?
