I just got rid of throttle slop!

there are some things to know:

- you need the "special screwdriver" to remove the little silver screws on the outside of the housing - total of 4 screws need to come out, 2 Large Black, 2 Small Silver with special head (not a torx, i just do not know what its called - Harbor Freight sells the tool for $5?) - removing all 4 screws, allows you to back the throttle tube out just enough for you to get the shims installed

- if you want to go the longer route, leave the 2 Smaller Silver screws in place, and unplug the throttle housing from the main wire harness...the plug is up and under the fairing near the fuel tank - doing that will allow you to completely remove the throttle tube and install the shims with everything in your hand

- i myself, ended up at the dealer...they got it done for me really quickly, and i was on my way - at the time i didn't know about removing the Small Silver screws, and i just did not feel like snapping tabs off the fairing - if i had known that taking all 4 screws out did the trick, i would have done it myself

I obtained the tool for the special head on the silver screws from Amazon - called 'Triwing Bits'. Dave

the weird screws can be opened with a flat screwdriver.

if you know screwdriver kung-fu.

worked pretty well.

Yep! 1/8" blade works perfect. 5 min install and no running to HF for a tool I'll never use again!

I got mine in the mail today.. Thanks jamesz3. Will try and install on Saturday and post my impressions.

Cheers.

I also bought the $27 ebay kit and have no complaints. Super detailed instructions and the results are sublime :D

Throttle Spacer Kit Ducati Panigale 899 1199 1299 w Detailed Color Instructions | eBay

So I got a chance to try this out this am in the wet. This may be the most efficient cost to benefit upgrade I've ever done on any motorcycle.

The enhanced throttle control makes riding much more safe and fun. I would consider this a must (street or track). I was going to remap & re gear after break in, but this $27 mod may obviate the need. Its that good. Well said panirider55, it truly is sublime.

I finally installed mine over the weekend. Took longer to read the instructions than to do the work itself. Tweezers were really handy for me and my big hands for putting the spacers in place. I bought the same $27 kit, and a nice little screwdriver kit on amazon for $10 that included the tri-tip driver (which randomly I needed over the weekend for something else). And on to my impressions:

HOLY CRAP THESE ARE AWESOME! The throttle response is massively improved from zero. I love them. They're great. It's like a different bike. No more slight stutter from stop in calm riding.

Seriously, everyone who has a 1299, go buy this kit. Now. I'll wait.

Back? Good. Install them and be even happier.

Glad I could help! This was undoubtedly the best bang for the buck mod I've ever done to one of my motorcycles. Just happy someone's finally offering a kit a reasonable price.

Installed mine last night..!! Perfection.. just perfection. It really helps with fine motor control of the throttle and I tested mine thoroughly during my morning commute into work; delighted.

How is it out of stoplights? Hair trigger may be an issue there

You must be enjoying the 100 degree commute shilling

Actually, it makes the throttle more consistent.!

It's always freaking weird the weather in the SF Bay Area during the Summer.

This morning it was 52 degrees and bright sunshine when I left home - plummeted to 43 degrees and dense fog, as I went over the Golden Gate Bridge, then back to bright sunshine and 48 degrees when I got to work in the Financial District..

I expect this afternoon, it will be around 60 degrees and sunny at work, which will change to dense fog and 50 degrees over the bridge, then 85-90 degrees and not a cloud in the sky back in Marin (all within about a 15 mile radius) Micro climates are whacky.. Not that I'm complaining; I could be back home in Scotland and freezing my ... off in the gloom... :D

Did mine just 9 days ago, even got to try a trackday aswell as the daily 200 km commute to and from work. I love it! Even in rush traffic, city driving, and trackday! Miles better than the standard sloppy throttle! Why would they make a 3mm slack anyways on a ride by wire throttle?

...isn't it the best thing to come along since the Quick Shifter, Slipper Clutch, Engine Brake Control ? :D

Well, I finally bit the bullet and bought it from Jarel.

What do I need? Some sort of special tool?

Dynasty, you need a schnazzy triangle bit.

As to the kit, the warnings did make me a hair apprehensive. Then I installed them and saw the light. Makes it SO SO much better. Like everyone else has said, hands down best bang for the buck.
