I just took a late night ride on my 2012 Panigale Base model

It only has 2900 miles on it

I went inside the gas station bought a pack of smokes and smoked one... get back on my bike.... it turned over and no start.... so i tried again it burped almost started then.....

CLICK CLICK CLICK.... nothing won't turn nothing... my headlights are not dimming everything is working fine but nothing

I am stranded and I need help please tell me what I need to do.

If this was an issue with hot starting, the engine would at least turn over.

I agree that it is likely the battery or perhaps the starter or solenoid.
 
I had the same problem. It was due to not showing neutral because of a gear shift sensor fault. took it to the dealer and they sorted it quickly.

I am very very mad right now because i literally just bought this bike 2 days ago....

Where did you buy..is it under warranty??
 
some guys had starters coming apart, some batteries died, most had the canister problem (including myself).

to clarify: did you buy the bike from a dealer, or private? when was the bike initially purchased?

what are your options on checking on failure modes and who would be able to do the repair for you? we can guide you through this.
 
Does it have a tender/charger? How far did you ride before you stopped for smokes? How did it start before you left? If you don't ride for a couple of weeks the battery Could have been borderline dead.
 
First of all I just want to say thank you to you guys for all the help and opinions

So I take it to Ducati they tell me it's the starter and it's going to cost me
$1000 to fix. I am about to have a heart attack.

I just bought this bike and paid all the money for it becuase of the low miles condition etc.

What the hell do I do now ?

Does anyone know where I can buy a starter from or where I can rebuilt it or any options I am out of warranty.
 
I bought a new battery let it charge over night and it didn't do anything

The clicking noise is coming from the starter solo relay. I tested everything my self as far as I could to try and locate the problem

Everything has power even the starter is showing power coming to it but just nothing other then click
 
Buy a starter from Ebay and save yourself $900--and you'll have the satisfaction of doing it yourself. There are so many people on this forum who are willing to share their knowledge and know-how. You'll probably bust your knuckles a few times and swear a bunch--but the satisfaction of doing it yourself is a great thing...and your pockets will still have some jingle for some upgrades...
