ignition stolen out of it!

Is that really the case tadashi? sounds quite simple.
I'm not doughting you at all, could I take the ignition from my 899 and try it?

Most likely you would need to transfer over the dash, ECU, and ignition. Not sure if the ECU would be compatible between the 899 and 959, however.

Nope just the ignition on these bikes!
Not like the past siperbike series's where the immobilizer was matched with the dash.
I have a 1299 ignition on my 14R

Thanks very much, I will give it a try on the weekend.

Yes, It will work I've done it but you won't know the pin for the dash. The pin is there so you can start your bike if the immobilizer fails.

When I bought my Pani the code was all zeroes till I put in my own code. My PS had a factory set code.

If you're lucky the code hasn't been changed from the zeroes yet.

What I don't get is how the OP bought the bike without a plan. Don't mean to sound rude, but it sounds fishy to me too. I cannot fathom someone buying a bike without the key cylinder and not researching the fix before buying the bike.

Having said that, it seems the best solution is to keep an eye out for a totalled bike. It's unlikely that part would be damaged.

The bike was super cheap (about half price) looked extremely unused and as I said in the first post "has full Akra system and just about every DP thing that could fit".

Seems it was in for a service and to have full system and all the accessories fitted when the thing was snatched it has 1600km and that titanium exhaust is beautiful to look at and the sound is amazing,

Thanks to tadashi it will be having it's first track excursion on the 5th of Feb, just need to swap over the bits from my now retired 899, rapid bike evo, front forks, rear shock and flat link, DBholders subframe, OZ racing wheels.

Took a photo just before removing the Rapid Bike to be sent for reprogramming, came up OK.

Nothing like our local forum cops...shoot first ask questions later! Now, go back to watching whatever crime fighting TV show is giving you this brilliant deductive reasoning.

I would have bought it for that kind of deal with no need of a plan. Either you fix it and ride it or part it out, seems pretty simple.

Glad the OP got the info he needed to go with option 1.

Good luck able duc!

Forum cops? Seems like some pretty obvious questions to ask. We had no idea what the circumstances were behind him buying it. This isn't like the old days when an overachieving five year old could simply hot wire any vehicle

The only "....... ......" here is you ;)

Look above at the last 2 posts hot shot

You're entitled to your opinion as misguided as it is. This guy has given scarce details about how the whole situation unfolded. For all we know this guy stole some bike and wants help starting it .... that and .... you right back ;)

If this was a 100% "legitimate" purchase everyone knows there's is zero need to ever remove the ignition on a Ducati. You can take the vin to any dealership with your registration and you'll have a key from Ducati direct in less than a week. This isn't some Honda where you can run it keyless. Nobody is operating legitimately when pulling the ignition from a Ducati. If they were they'd go to a dealership for resolution not post on some forum for a way to start the bike.

Ah yes your the poster who used the term only dicks would use.

The first post was:
"Purchased a bike a month ago that has had the ignition switch ripped out of it.
Yep the whole lot!"

I rand my local dealer who told me I would need to replace ECU, Dash and Keyset 'WRONG!' so the chances of getting a key for a non existent lock from a dealer would be a little slim.

The .... really is coming out on this post of mine, thanks to all who were here to help and to those who were not thanks for no real world help.

Exactly, my point was that nobody asked the OP any questions before jumping to conclusions...

At half the cost of a new 1299 i wouldve jumped on it too. Sometimes when a deal pops up you dont have the option to research and at most i wouldve guessed $2k to replace it all.

Instead of asking a couple simple questions you go and assume the worst possible scenario then blast the guy and now im the one with a misguided opinion? The ..... wrong with you?
