IMU mounting after installing track fairings

Talking with Bill my teammate he said he designed it like he did to allow some flex and to help cancel out some of the vibration. Maybe try our design without the added bracing and try using the foam the way I did. You may find it will work for you. Our print material was carbon.

i appreciate your input but i havent tested it yet on the road, if im still having the issues then i will try something different, im confident i will not have issues because as i keep saying it behaves much worse on the dyno

I did print the initial design with carbon material it snapped before i had a chance to use it and it made me nervous it would snap on the bike.

We must be using different carbon print materials ours has not come close to snapping. I wish you good luck on your track testing!

sorry, I don't like that.
1.How many time has you spend in a task that could be done save and easy with a little sheet bending.
2.the IMU is Vibration coupled over the screws.the IMU has to have NO single contact point with a not damped Part.
3 the way of homemade 3d printing is not trustworthy. it is more DIY then solid craftsmanship.
4 the idea, that flex will kill vibrations, is just that, an idea

great so make us a solution, none of us like it but unfortunately there is not a solution being sold

There’s a couple of examples out there that are being sold for close to 400 British pounds. That is not justifiable. If a 3D printed version works then it’s good enough.
I bought a used 3D printer, made my part and could now sell the printer for what I paid for it. So in effect cost me next to nothing.

The part I’ve made out of carbon with some extra support, you’d need to stand on it with some force to snap it.
If it works, it’s good enough for me.

Chris, did you come here to offer ideas? Or are you here just to ridicule people looking for a solution. Either way you post does nothing to add or aid to the solution.

I would also like to add. How do you know that it is a homemade 3d printer. Actually the one we are using is a industrial 3d printer. In all likely hood costing more than the home you are living in. It is used for prototyping as well as used for bespoke final products.

i show my mount, for the stock holder of course, years ago.

blade runner, nothing to add?
read again please point 2 and 4 at least.
if you dont wanna hear this...

come on, blade runner, a industrial printer or printing is not comparable with a diy one. read mattys post.
but it starts with the construction, again, point 2,4.

still no good, I am over this. A track oriented bike that you cant put track fairings on with out rigging a solution for one of the most important sensors on the bike. I am honestly thinking I am just going to sell it and just have my v4 as a street bike and use a smaller bike for track days. Be much cheaper on tires and none of this nonsense.

What's wrong with leaving the stock fairing stay in place again? Unable to replace stock fairing stay != unable to mount track fairings.

its a track day bike, stock plastics are expensive and a pain in the ass to put on and remove.

and the mount isnt in the stock fairing stay its in the headlight assembly ,

I am so sorry to hear that you are continuing to have problems with your bike. I know and understand the frustration.

We just returned from 2 days at NC bike. We were running counter clock wise so I was able to get into 6th gear finally but not rev it out. Never been there before. 1st day was just feeling out the track and finding our way around. Ended the second day on a good pace turning 1:30's - 1:31's. Each day we had zero problems with the bike other than loosing a screw to my tail section. Bike ran perfectly.

I hope that you don't give up and find a solution that will work for you.

Small thread resuscitation.

I've been following this thread but so far my track fairings are the DP ones, all the connectors are in place. Switching to a different set this winter and freeing up the nose with a front stay. IMU mounting was a concern, messed that up before but after a few pics it was remedied.

I was looking to purchase some handlebar switches and searched IMU for the hell of it....and what do ya know

Looks like a solution to me, pretty sure I am gonna try one out in the not too distant future.

Pulled the trigger on the bracket in my post, probably get it early next month and will be part of my winter service/mod list. Unknown if it will work with my aftermarket front stay but will post pics when done.

I have the DB Holder and the IMU is mounted without any foam, spacers etc... just directly to the mount and it works without problems.
