here is my question to you guys and its simple is jorge lorenzo career over? lets look at this last weekend. he stormed out not talking to anyone after qualifying 1. he obviously cant get the hang of the ducati (it took dovi 5 years)

after the ducati contract does ducati resign him? if they dont resign him where is he to go? Yamaha wont take him back and they have zarco. there is always suzuki as its the closet bike to the yamaha but if not suzuki can you see jorge on a satalite team.

what are your thoughts on this? is this really the end of lorenzo?

que rogue dear jorge

no.

did Rossi lead any races on the duc?

give it time. Gigi and JLo have scientific approach to the improvements. i think it's the right way.

yes, he was never good in uncertain conditions, so yes, Assen was a disaster so to say, but his time will come.

Cheers,

Lorenzo has always been up and down - a good day is 1st, but a bad day can be 8th - 10th. That was on the Yamaha that he was used to. He's no Marquez where a bad day is just off the podium.

He's still learning the Ducati, and he's had some good days on it - no #1 but getting closer. His bad days are worse but this is what I would have expected to see with him going to a different bike. I think he would have fared the same on the Honda.

I don't know the guy personally. But it has always appeared to me that he likes a very specific type of setup and doesn't really have multiple styles in his bag of tricks like some of the other riders. He's always struggled mightily in variable or wet conditions. It may take a while to figure out, but I don't think he will lose alien status anytime soon. He may have to take a rather large paycut next contract though.

I'll bet that Suzuki tries to hire him next. His style suits that bike. Yamaha won't sign him back( he doesn't sell bikes and isn't the PR machine Rossi is) because they'll invest in having a Vinales/ Zarco garage when Rossi goes. His style won't suit the Honda so he won't take Pedrosa's seat, im guessing Honda will invest in some younger anyone since they've got Marquez. So it's either a satellite bike or Suzuki.

A multi-MotoGP champion isn't done after a few bad races on a bike even Rossi couldn't tame. The guys who are doing well on the 2017 Duc are the guys who've taken years to learn how. He'll figure out the bike but it'll take time. He's been on a bike he developed to suit his style for a long time.

We know he's not a rider that will push hard in "Iffy" conditions, even when he's got the best equipment.

He's not in contention for a championship, so I see yesterdays race as just one he was not prepared to crash in as there was no real gain for him or Ducati.

He dropped way back when he took the chance on it raining, which is why he got lapped.

Nothing lost or gained yesterday.

From what I understand, he's got another year at Ducati after this year. If he can't make it work next year, I don't see him going to a satellite team, so I think he'll retire.

Simple, Lorenzo takes Dani's place the you can have the MM-JL dream team. I see no other place for him. That being said, you are going to need a place for Crashlow if he continues to improve, Morbidelli and little Marquez. Maybe JL is done. He can go fishing with Casey and they can chat about how lucky Rossi is that they didn't stay in it and pass his numbers.

no.

phil you disappoint me with that answer about rossi and the duc. we all know dorna brokered the deal with rossi to get back to yamaha. jorge does not have that kind of pull.

JLo is career is not over. He still got long ways to go unless he wants to quit like Casey. lol

what do you mean even rossi couldnt tame? am i missing something here? the bike was tamed by casey stoner. then ducati wouldnt listen to stoner anymore. rossi was never ever close to stoners performance on the ducati. in back to back tests he was 3 seconds slower than stoner on the same exact bike. they hired rossi and he set ducati back about 5 years with his nonsense.
so dont give me this even rossi couldnt tame. rossi couldnt out perform nicky on the ducati results were very similar. so much for greatest rider.

there are so many guys coming up that its either put up or go away. lets be real the only reason dani is still around is casey retired or it would be marquez and stoner on the repsol

lets continue as you bring up morbidelli and little marquez they are coming. zarco is here and folger is here. crashlow is doing well and they are bringing in (i will butcher the spelling) taka nakagami.

so there are a bunch of guys that i think have to go.
rossi
dani
tito
barber
bautista
smith (i like him but hes done)
both espargaro brothers.
abraham
redding
miller.

you guys that are saying his carreer is not over didnt address the second part of the question.

does ducati resign him? does suzuki throw a boat load of cash at him? does he race for a satalite team?

i dont think he is anywhere near done as a racer however i dont see many landing spots.

We truly do not know what's going on inside of Ducati but if I were to guess, I think Ducati will keep him for another year for sure. He is one of the fastest rider in MotoGP unless Ducati thinks they can get someone better or upcoming super talent.

I also think Suzuki will negotiate to get him over and JUST like Rossi, JLo's pride is too big to go to a satellite team.

I can't see anyone in the paddock believing that he's no longer bankable after only a year or two of medicre results. Yamaha have said they would take him back if he wanted. I reckon they would happily take Lorenzo back over Zarco and co if Rossi retired as they will want someone with experience in the garage to partner Maverick who is their future success story. Having both Maverick and Zarco would be an unacceptably immature team I would have thought? The last few races Maverick has been completely lost as he lacks the experience to understand the conditions. It would be a disaster if they had both riders in the same situation. Rossi didn't win at Assen because of tyre / machinery advantage; he won because he's a wily old goat (see what I did there? ) who knows how to deal with changeable conditions.

I'll say it's not over... As much as JLo can be winy sometimes, he does put in his time and work into riding and developing himself and his bikes. I was never a huge fan of him, but I am a fan of his process and craft. I think something good will eventually come out of him and his garage. Him and Gigi have history together, and they just might make history again. We'll see...

He may not get 12 million euro a year anymore but there are three other factory rides other than Honda, Yamaha and Ducati. Any of them would love to have a rider of his caliber in board, though most probably wouldn't pay a huge salary.

maverick has been lost because of the voted on tire by the majority of riders was mysteriously taken away. yes the 070 tire was voted on but the vote was fugazi at best and how can you just change tires mid season. at least have BOTH tires available.

Maverick Vinales was the fastest rider at Assen when it was dry in the first test days. He was expected to win if the conditions stayed warm.

Does anyone know if they used the 070 or the new symmetrical one they tested after Barcelona?

Either way Vinales was only just second fastest after Marquez in the post Barcelona tests. The new chassis that Yamaha brought after Barcelona was preferred by Rossi but Vinales could choose which one he liked anyhow; he had prefered the earlier 2017 chassis which Rossi thought understeered too much.

'The last fifteen minutes or so of the test devolved into a straight up shooting match between Viñales and Márquez. Viñales had been fastest for most of the day, but Márquez picked up the pace in the final minutes. The two riders went for an all out qualifying war at the end of the day, pushing hard to take top honors in the test. In the end, Márquez held Viñales at bay, but the pair had a massive advantage over the others.'

He doesn't blame Michelin for his poor qualifying, although it looks suspicious at first glance. Being the fastest in the first test day would say it's not the tyres? My thoughts are still that he just isn't experienced enough to deal with changeable conditions as well as people like Dovi and Rossi, and it's made worse by the fact that like Lorenzo his big strength is corner speed so he needs the right tyre feel:

Others were left without a clear idea of what happened. "In FP3 I was feeling great, I was feeling good, getting a good rhythm, getting good laps on the lap time," a despondent Maverick Viñales told us. "But suddenly in qualifying, when I exit and already I didn't have any feeling. I don't know if it's because the track was more dry or something, but no feeling on the qualifying, with both tires." The problem was with both front and rear tires, Viñales said. "Especially with the rear on the entry of the corners, and in the middle. I couldn't make good corner speed or hard braking as I did in the morning."

Atmospheric cooling

For once, Viñales was willing to exonerate Michelin. "I don't think Michelin have a problem here. All the tires I used today had the same grip, so I don't think Michelin caused the problem, for sure," he said. But he had no immediate alternative explanation for his problems. Whatever they were, they left him drained and exasperated. "It's not good starting from eleventh when you're fighting for the championship, and another result like this didn't give me a lot of motivation, you know? You exit FP3 thinking, OK, I can go for the pole, and then you go in the qualifying and you are eleventh. It's something … amazing."

He treated Yamaha like .... last year if it doesn't work out with ducati goodbye career
