That's why you get owned. You should ride around in 6K range these bikes were meant to ride in the higher rev range. Drop it to 3rd. You can't ride this bike in on the hwy in 5th and 6th. unless you are doing 160mph plus :D

..... and who does that??

I've seen - - - only 3 times on the highway when I first got the bike with absolutely no one around and a safety guy way ahead cause I Don't want to hurt anyone. But a few times at Big Willow.:D

I do find myself in 6th sometimes on the freeway, but that is cruising in traffic with nowhere to go, so I shift up to save gas (yes, I am THAT cheap, also why I STILL have not yet replaced the damn foot pegs made by Astroglide)

Man ... You are cheap...:D Those things are dangerous..

so let me get this straight your at say 60 to 70 in 5th or 6 and they take off and you cant get them. now that makes sense. do 70 in say 3 and crack it there is no way again no way on earth that a 600 stays with you. the 1000 will have a tough time staying with you (unless its an s1000rr or hp4 they eat 1199 for breakfast and they are very hungry)

can anybody tell me where that came from? great line from a great movie

also i have ridden the r6 at the track. it is very under powered compared to the duc. you have to be above 10k rpms to get anything at all. that leaves me to believe they are in 2nd or 3rd maybe 4th while you are in 6th waiting to catch up.

I didn't know that. I was under the impression that 2nd or 3rd we're too low for the highway and that above 6-7k the bike would only want to whrrlie

Mark...have you considered charging BMW for your commercials??:D

well i wouldnt personally cruise at 60 in second on the highway but you are saying they are losing you and i just dont see it. I have no problem getting to 70 in second if i am racing but thats something different. yes the bike wants to wheelie above 7k but you can keep it down.

all i am saying is you wont have the pickup necessary to catch a bike in 2 or 3 gear when they crack it if you stay in 5 or 6.

if you want to see what happens have one of your buddies cruise in 3rd at say 70 with you and then go or 70 in top gear then go see what happens you wont be disappointed .

many variables to what you are saying i am only assuming but you can ask them or give them your bike and you take theirs for the day then tell me how the 600 cant catch the 1199 ;)

i bash the 1199 a lot but it sure isnt slow.

a bike doesn't "want to wheelie" it's up to you. throttle control. shift back into 3rd and don't go WOT, just move it to get max. acceleration without bringing the front up.
and quick shift up. don't use the clutch. saves precious time.

bottom line get on a track or at least the dragway.

That's funny!

the only bike that is killing me is my friends s1000rr.

the rest if we are both ready for launch i am leaving them gradually back. my issue is tha i slip over from my seat a lot and i dont get it since its my first time that happens to me with a bike, but still no one from my friends can follow me in cornering...

1199s is a killing machine, japanese are just toys not machines... ducati needs some skills to take it on the limit and i am honest to say i didnt even try to bring it in the limit...

I can honestly say I don't have the skills to take this thing to the limit. It's my fourth bike but I still am not 100% confident
