Hey, speak for yourself. I have cleary hit the bike's limit on its ability to be polished, and ogled. Largely because I am a graduate of the Keith Code polishing school.

I bet your foot pegs are the most highly polished part of your bike...:D

can you tell me how i can get the fine scratches out of my tank. the paint is so damn soft. its starting to look dull. can i use a good carnuba wax like mothers?

I can honestly say I don't have the skills to take this thing to the limit. It's my fourth bike but I still am not 100% confident

Take your time and get use to it. Do some track days and it will come. Some one said throttle control. Thats the best advice I've seen on this thread so far.

First off, I put 3M guards on my tank. But as to any of the small scratches, general wax with a very soft (I use cloth diapers, no joke) and may work out. If too much of a scratch, may try gently rubbing in some rubbing compound (very lightly, it will eat into clear coat), then waxing on top of that.

I don't know what your skill level is and don't mean to be condescending, but if you want a GREAT read that will either help or brush up, I highly recommend this.

Sport Riding Techniques: How To Develop Real World Skills for Speed, Safety, and Confidence on the Street and Track: Nick Ienatsch, Kenny Roberts: 9781893618077: Amazon.com: Books

that book is amazing. i got my directly from nick autographed at the yamaha champions riding school. its an amazing read. saves you some money too over the 2 code books. twist of the wrist one and 2

i guess 3500 for 3 full track day lessons from the best gets you an autographed book lol

the only bike that is killing me is my friends s1000rr.

the rest if we are both ready for launch i am leaving them gradually back. my issue is tha i slip over from my seat a lot and i dont get it since its my first time that happens to me with a bike, but still no one from my friends can follow me in cornering...

1199s is a killing machine, japanese are just toys not machines... ducati needs some skills to take it on the limit and i am honest to say i didnt even try to bring it in the limit...

If you want to beat up on the S1K a simple cam timing will do it (cheap). I've learned from a buddy that the cam timing is really ...... on the Panigale to meet the EPAs requirement. I did mine too but also bumped up the compression (expensive) on it and now the HP4 is no contest but it not fair my neighbor complains.:D

Good for you to be honest about your skills and limits.

So I'll say this then, don't worry about comparing the bike to your buddies'. Get used to the bike, ride within YOUR limits, experiment with how the bike reacts to different gears, throttle positions, etc. A 1198cc twin is NOT the engine to be hammering on without having confidence. The fact that you have an 1199 and a ZX-10 and don't have full comprehension of their individual power/torque/rpm relationships is a scary sign, tbh.

If you're buddies aren't encouraging you to do this, get different riding buddies.

I dont know about ... bikes, but i have no issue hanging with my friend HP4 with short gearing, my is a stock base and my friend Is about 30 lbs heavier than me

I don't even think I've everrrrrr been above 4th gear on this bike. Not even during break-in period. Grant it, fastest I've ever done is 120 on this bike. This bikes gearing is way too tall. Maybe I think that because it's my 1st non 600 bike. Anywho, I primarily ride in 3rd gear on the freeways. Even then I'm still comfortably able to do 70mph and not even break a sweat on this bike. .... is ridiculous!
