Mind sharing the DES settings for your long rides Stw?
That's why you get owned. You should ride around in 6K range these bikes were meant to ride in the higher rev range. Drop it to 3rd. You can't ride this bike in on the hwy in 5th and 6th. unless you are doing 160mph plus
I'm sorry but if you didn't naturally feel gearing to be wrong then you need to get back on a 600 asap!!!! As for wheelies traction on level 8 if your still not comfortable 195hp low .... I'm proud of the guys here not bashing you they usually eat guys like you for breakfast with such a post ......
If you want to beat up on the S1K a simple cam timing will do it (cheap). I've learned from a buddy that the cam timing is really ...... on the Panigale to meet the EPAs requirement. I did mine too but also bumped up the compression (expensive) on it and now the HP4 is no contest but it not fair my neighbor complains.
I ride mine in 6th gear all the time on the highway. But then again I'm not looking to get a huge ticket for street racing. Save the fast riding for the back roads when nobody else is around. And that's not preaching, just makes more sense. I'd have bought a ZX-14 if all I cared about was "owning" people on the highway.
Downshift into 2nd and redline that duc & use quick shifter, dont let off throttle while shifting.
Creamed two of my friends a zx10 & S1000 on the highway multiple times.
(they start to creep up around 260km/hr)
Not on the hwy I hope???
No, never its a controlled race track we just gave it a nickname the highway of course.
Me too, I put at speed limit or up to 10 over on basic freeway riding (generally to get to the mountains). No sense risking a ticket and our real riding comes in the twisties. As my friend told me when I first started riding, "Any monkey can go fast in a straight line." Admittedly, I'm an old fuddy duddy with a kid, I stoped taking too many risks long ago. But I wouldn't even ride with anybody who had any hint of competitiveness. Save that for the track. Golden rule we all ride with, ride your own ride, forget about what everybody else is doing.
This is fine..till you ride with an ......... So you have to have awareness of the guys around you...
I have a cure for that. If some guy in your group is riding up on you, trying to show how fast he can be, being a general nimrod, I just let him take the lead of the group, turn around, and go home.
ScrapperX: I read this and had to ask... (Apologies to the OP for this thread jack)
What did you bump the cam timing up to? Was it just intake side or exhaust as well. Any information would be greatly appreciated on this one. Also, what did you do to bump the compression; head work, pistons, gasket, etc.
I did intake and exhaust cam timing to my 05 ZX-10 and a thin head gasket and it really made the bike feel like it was possessed!!
How about a guy that constantly is up your tail and when you stop he crashes into you???

I think you're misconstruing the don't pay attention to the other riders in your group statement. Of course pay attention to any vehicle around you. The point intended was not to worry if other riders are getting ahead of you, thinking like you need to keep up or ride like they do. Not to actually ignore any riders.
I know..I was kind of being facetious but I think we all have to pay attention... its scary out there...
Speaking of...have you seen that rear view camera helmet? I need to set a post asking if anybody has tried that out.
I have seen talk of it... But I know of no one thats ever used it....
