thank you for the info, I reached out to him, he is the guy i just posted the ebay link to.
He does not make the design that I just purchased.

Thank you though!

b9009b You may well be right and know far more than me, I'm certainly not an expert when it comes to aerodynamics!

At speed the wind sheer coming around the front wheel and down from the upper body panels will push the exhaust gases down and out not forward.

I'm guessing you mean the boundary layer formed by the front wheel and fairing is sufficient to absorb the exhaust gases before they interrupt laminar flow and create drag?

I don't know how large the boundary layer is from the front of the bike but I'd be amazed if it was big enough to absorb gases from the exhaust, especially at full chat. Ducati have worked extremely hard to package the bike very tightly and keep the lines clean in that area. They obviously believe that the aerodynamics behind the front wheel are still important & have tried to reduce profile drag and keep the bike as slippery as possible.

When you consider that reverse thrust alone will stop a commercial airliner (well over 100 tonnes) and it lands slower than the top speed of a Panigale I don't think the aerodynamic effect should be discounted. Now that I think about it, I can't think of one high performance vehicle that exits its exhaust gases forwards... of course I could be completely wrong!

SPJ - You are correct there are zero that emit it forward and yes planes using reverse thrust will stop but there is no thrust coming from the termi exhaust. The force of the air moving around the bike is and will be greater at speed than the exhaust leaving the can. It also allowed them to use less bends and pipes which saved them weight.

I agree there is no meaningful thrust coming from the exhaust but disagree regarding the airflow. Yes, the air travelling past the exhaust will be faster than that coming out, but that there is air coming from the exhaust means it will collide with the laminar flow and it will create drag. Interestingly on the 1299 Ducati have angled the exhausts further aft.

I certainly agree with the weight saving/ less restriction aspect and imagine it could well produce more power. I imagine power/weight are more important to Termignoni than aerodynamics. I don't expect it will bother many, unless like me you enjoy the autobahn :)

It will create a small drag but it shouldn't be noticeable. The issue I see is forward facing openings rocks go in, water, etc.

Good job . The RG tank sliders are useless . I have bought a set from Lance (Kneedragger ) they work great .

Yes...ok...."kneedragger" (Lance from upstate NY) is his screen name here - and wilkson said he bought a set Lance shipped to Australia and he liked them - I'd give Lance a try, as opposed to going out of country first - he does make a good prouduct with obvious attention to detail most Ducati guys can appreciate - but good luck either way !

I have R&G now but i cant imagine it saves anything except that one small edge

R&G tank sliders gave no protection and my tank ruptured .

Another crash with Kneedragger sliders and they saved my bike .

I'm talking to lance now don't worry might re design to this il keep you posted

Hi all, I try to get on the forum whenever possible to keep up to date on things. I am still making my custom sliders. ( I just figured if anyone was interested, they will seek me out on a forum search for a set) I'm a one man show and hand make and paint every set. So, I can make/paint them in "any" manner you wish.

Decided to ditch the RG tank sliders since all it covers is a edge of the tank

I ordered these instead.. 5 sets of them :) so if anyone wants one let me know, it would save you plenty on shipping from Italy

Who selling this in italy?
( this US made sliders shipping in swizerland is too expensive..)
Thanks,

The painted ones look the muts nuts  IMO much better than the plain CF. How much are you knocking these out for? I think the international postage will be the killer here for those of us across the 'pond'. Keep up the great work :D

So those were your sliders on the Willy Wonka 1199 at IMS in NYC. I was wondering who made them. Awesome work dude.
