No assumptions here....But I hate that argument..... Its specious at best... Damn right I do not wanna piss away money unnecessarily... especially if its less money for what might be a better product... (might be)...

i couldnt agree with you more. a very successful man once told me "the only way to stay poor is to live rich". every dollar counts. as long as you're not spending all day trying to save $25, then saving a quick $25 seems to be a great idea!!! especially when the K&n is more than likely better (equal at worst) to the OEM paper filter from DUC. i couldnt find it with about 30 minutes of searching and calling so i just ordered the OEM. but i certainly tried.

i spent 40 on mine with the gaskets that will never happen again.

fyi amazon has all k and n products. i got a k and n air and oil filter for my new ninja 60 bucks shipped most places wanted i think 75 just for the air filter.

I ORDERED MY OEM FILTER AND ONLY THE FILTER CAME, IT DID NOT COME WITH ANYTHING ELSE!!! what else MUST i have to do my oil change? can i re-use the o rings/crush washer just one time?

In spect the O-rings for any sign of damage during cover removal. Don't think you need to replace 'em unless you detect a nick/scratch/etc that would keep them from sealing.

Don't reuse crush washers - at least without annealing them. Dunno what Ducati gets for 'em but back when I was changing oil/oil filters every week on race machinery I went to local Advance Auto Parts and got a big handful (correct size) of 'em for a few dollars. They use 'em like candy there for their oil change business so no big deal to score some. Still have a bunch. But if you ever find yourself needing one, just reuse the old one by annealing it first and you're good to do. Though they're so cheap (at least from the Auto Parts guys) it's easier just to reach in to my parts drawer and grab a new one.

is it going to hurt my Pani if i dont change the gasket just one time? the kit i got from OEM ducati didnt come with the Orings etc...just the filter...

just bring the stuff to autozone they will match it simple fix.

Changing gaskets every oil change is unnecessary. To make Ducati happy I only change them at the 'required' oil changes: ie 600, 7500, 15000 miles.

As of now, the entire kit is on eBay for $40 shipped to your door.
Look up item number: 161101745390

Includes filter, o rings, crush washer and shipping.
DO NOT reuse a crush washer!

ok i'll just have to go up to Autozone and get a replacement then. thanks!

Dammit! Ordered two OEM filters last weekend. Oh well, there's always next time. My oil was pitch black and needed to go ASAP. Tons of .... on the magnetic drain plug as well.

OK - I need someone to report experience with them on the 1199. I've heard from a respectable race tuner that a while back K&N oil filters had a bad rap because they caused oil pressure to be higher since the filter media was "better filtering" which equated to less flow. It caused some engine failures that he saw with his own eyes.

Not that is what I've heard from a reputable source. Maybe this was propaganda started by OEMs who wanted you to use their high-profit margin parts, I don't know but figure its worth sharing.
