So I am reading through the manual for the 2023 V4R and I see this on page 151. My V4R, I assume like all others, comes with the GPS receiver on the bike and a DDA USB dongle in the box of accessories.

What I don't understand is the sentence below..."If the bike is equipped with the GPS EVO module, the LAP EVO function is enabled."

On the previous page of this same owner's manual there is some information about LAP BASIC with GPS module.

Is the LAP EVO something that is included with all V4R or an add-on?

It's included with all V4R, frustrating that you have to do a long hold for the splits. All other after market data setups you can signaled those splits after the fact

How would you realistically set intermediate splits? Sounds like you would have to stop on track to mark the coordinates

Is this not similar to setting the finish line by pressing the flash but it looks like it allows you to set two more point on the track? Probably a pain to set it on the first lap 😕 but then would allow for splits for the rest of the day at a more granular level...?

Split location is just for reference, it doesn’t have to be an exact location as long as it’s the same every lap.

I don’t see a problem with it having to be a long hold (probably 2 seconds?) while passing the split locations on the first lap. Definitely not ideal but not that big of an issue.

Guys this is one that I’m trying to make it work and having a bit of an issue with it. When I get out I have it in race mode one then make a lap and pull the trigger to set the starting point. I make my lap and it doesn’t seem to make the next lap and just keeps going. Is that because the first pull of the lap timer needs to be held for two seconds?

No, you should only need to pull the trigger for the high beams once to set the starting point, but it needs to be done before you complete a full lap from where you enter the track, otherwise the GPS will use the point at which it registers that a full lap has been made. I think the two seconds only applies if you wish to add split sectors.

OK so best bet would be to pull the high been switch when your pulling onto the track from pitting out I would think? then the next lap will be a bit slower because your just getting on the track but then every lap after that should be in the memory? How do you stop the lap timer?

Pull into the pits will stop it.

When you initially pull the flash button, try and be central on the track. Or, at a minimum, on the racing line.

Ok sounds good Rick thank you! Last track days are coming up next week! looking forward to using it the proper way this time! lol

Do you need to set the start / finish point on every session? Or once you’ve done it the first time does it remember

Do you have to set the start / finish line and the two split locations if you don't want to? or can you only do the start finish line while using the EVO Lap?

Hi guys, I have a 23 V4S with lap EVO, my instructions do not mention doing short of long presses, it just says press. but regardless I really struggle to get the start finish in the right place and the splits. Anyone else figure it out?
