I actually lol’d at this at first but after considering the rest of this thread I think this post is on point.

AIM if you want plug and play.

Motec and if you just wanna play.

It's not bad, about £2k. And, much better user interface.

Aim solo D2L.

It’s 100% plug and play, you can add 2 cameras and the software has built in data overlays for the video.

It takes all of the data from the canbus. You get speed, temp, brake pressure, twist grip opening, traction control, gear, etc. All of which can be overlaid onto the video feed if you use the Aim camera.

I don’t have the camera, just the solo D2L. I am thinking about buying a camera this year.

I have seen you tube videos with it, looks pretty good. The software looks pretty straightforward as well, it’s all incorporated into RS3

Looks very straightforward and easy to me.

Thanks for giving me some direction to look in guys ;-)

Using the AIM Solo2 DL and Smartycam…..Pulls the ECU data and does an overlay based on your uploaded layout, fairly easy to set up but agree with Karl that this .... should be 1/2 the size if it was designed by Apple.

Mounting of both modules was limited on the V4 so attached to my battery cover right now, easy to grab the SD card though for the video.

The new version is supposed to be coming out with more FPS and better resolution, but due to the ongoing supply chain issues god knows when they will actually show up.

That thing is huge!

I assume that’s the camera controller?

Where’s your camera mounted?

Is there an advantage to using the BSD mount instead of the one supplied by AIM?

Looking at the different options they offer, I think that only the bullet cameras require that controller and the Smartycam 3 doesn’t.

I’ll confirm this with AIM as I asked them yesterday about the possibility of logging suspension travel using the Solo with potentiometers. The answer was that it can’t.

AIM suggested the MXM dash logger if I want to do that but then there’s other options as well… the EVO4S which I’ve been eyeing for a while.

The guys who work on my bike are saying EVO4S if I want real datalogging along with the other stuff I want.

I’m gunna remove my headlights and tail lights, hopefully that will free up some space and with a bracket we fab maybe fit it to the front fairing stay somehow

It’s a good option no doubt.

The question is where to put it. I’ve thought about using a bracket and mounting it under the rear subframe using the passenger foot peg holes. Or, finding a smaller battery and maybe then there’ll be some space under the battery cover but that’s a stretch.

Bullet cam location, and totally agree about the size and location of my controller. BSD mount for the AIM unit to offset the location a bit for cable clearance.

Agree DDA is cleaner, but my experience with a full DDA+ setup on my '15R was that it sucked. Often would not pickup start/finish if your line deviated (i.e. passing someone on a straight) and the overlay of the DDA file export over video was basically an exercise in frustration. The output of this format is very simple, you can design an overlay to include whatever you want (track map, lean angle, brake pressure.....and talk to DeussenEngine for more capabilities). Auto start/stop when the bike is rolling is nice too, never have to remember to start smacking some buttons in the pits.

At some point you need the WSBK style tank to hide all the data loggers and controllers near where the batter normally fit.

That camera mount location looks pretty trick.

The smartycam 3 looks like a rugged GoPro. Can you overlay the logged data from a GoPro in Race Studio or whatever AiM calls their software? The Smartycam 3 looks appealing, but its rather expensive for a 1080p 30 FPS camera.

They lost me on this part for sure...

SmartyCam 3 does not have an audio channel or the ability to add one.

Yeah that's strange... they list harnesses with mic jacks for the 2.1 and 2.2 Smartycams but not the 3.

I'll also ask about this.

That’s a shame, the best vids are where the rider is mic’d up

Although on mine you’d just hear a bunch of me cursing at myself followed by very lady like screams of panic while I try to hold on.

None of the devices they offer have ports it seems, but rather audio jacks in the patch leads.

I’ve asked them audio related questions and awaiting the reply.
