Low sided my 1199R yesterday and need some advice

Tank looks sweet! Where's the tank sliders? I'd like to see some pics of a set installed.

Do you think sliders would have helped save some damage?

Guys,

Well I had an unfortunate low side at the track yesterday on my 1199R. Lost the front. Good news is that I'm fine.

Mechanically only sacrificed the left clip on, bar end, clutch lever, shifter. All inexpensive. Also broke off the turn stop on the lower triple but that's not a big deal. Left side fairings are obviously trashed. Front section, left top and bottom and tail section are toast. Those are very expensive. And also dented the tank which I'm thinking I'll take to a shop to see what they can do...

I saw the other post about bellissimoto.com and was very encouraged until I remembered that every R fairings are unique and has that that white stripe. I could purchase all the base panels from bellissimoto.com (assuming they still have them) and have a stealth R. Not sure that's the route I should go or not.

So I turn to the collective 1199 body of knowledge for recommendations!

Thanks in advance!

Tom

Sorry to hear Tom. Glad you were not hurt. My last track day I felt the front slip 3 times, I was really lucky I did not go down. Once was due to going too hard early on cold tyres.

Search the net and you will find someone wrecking a bike that will have some of the fairings you need. A friend of mine did that after crashing his ST4 and saved a pile of money. Sourced stuff from 4 wrecked bikes in total.

See samurai41 post earlier in the thread. He's the guy (Lance) that is making the tank sliders. And yes, they would have prevented the damage to the tank. Here's another forum discussing Lance's tank sliders DUCATI 1199 899 PANIGALE TANK CRASH SLIDER/PROTECTOR | Ducati 1199 Panigale Forum for Ducati 1199 and 899 Panigale

I've low sided due to cold tires as well many years ago. Lesson learned! Wish there was a lesson in this crash but for the life of me don't know what I did wrong. Couldn't have been cold tires since we were 7 laps in and I wasn't pushing the corner or in more lean than normal.

I could have repainted my left fairing. The rear and nose were the only parts that were actually broken. The Chinese fairings are the absolute way to go from a cost and convenience perspective. Granted not the same OEM paint quality but for $600 you get a complete bike with no fuss. Couldn't be happier.
