My Front Forks failed too. In the shop now being replaced under warranty. The bike bounced around like and old caddy. :(

How many miles did each of you have when they failed? Any conditions precipitate the fork failures? I've got a Bitubo XXF61 on the way but won't have my Bitubo Full Pressure System (FPS) fork cartridges for a couple months. So far my OEM Marzocchi's work surprisingly well with 1400 miles.

Thanks

JNG

Mine failed at about 2k km intervals. Crashed the first time, almost crashed the 2nd, lost 3 prepaid trackdays not to mention the eight 2 hour round trips to the dealer and back.

Can't say enough about the dealership, service reps and even DNA, was never down for more than a week, no hassle or arguments.

Last time around I offered not to take the replacement forks since I had new internals coming, but Ducati seems to have a case against their supplier and they want every broken fork they can get their hands on.

Yikes!

Thanks for the all the replies. I'll keep an eye out. I've got a great feeling from my suspension right now for the few local twisties in Central FL. The OEM Marzocchi forks right now have a better detailed road feeling than my previous '09 R1 with Ohlins FGRT808 forks that were professionally built for me.

I know my Bitubo bits are going to be better on track but for right now I'm quite pleased with my base suspension.

See, that's what frustrates me the most! According to Ducati insiders, those Marzocchis were supposed to be better than the OEM Ohlins on the S. In fact they are better for as long as they work, problem is they stop working.

I've had mine replaced three times, so far DNA have been great but last time both failed around 120 mph corner, luckily I saved it but a bit of a pucker moment drifting to the outside of the turn, they usually go out slowly though. I don't have a lot of faith in them but when they are working and setup correctly they are sweeeeeet!

Well damn that just did wonders for my confidence!

Guess I have to revive this thread .
This there any method which can clearly allow u to know ur rebound is busted ?
Last session on track I felt my front bounce like a pogo stick entering corner.
Today I tested the forks , what I did was dial full the compression damping and I cound feel the diff between full and no compression.
However , the rebound when dialed full felt no difference from when bouncing it in no rebounce setting.
Is my fork busted ?

I am a bit curious as to why there are so many Panigale problems only in the USA and not a lot of it is heard here in the UK?

A month or so ago me and some friends were on a ride. My forks blew oil all over my front end... Both sides. I took the bike to the dealer and they are building them. Problem for me is the dealership is 5hrs away. If this happens again I am calling road side to pick this piece of .... up.

Damn! Potential lawsuit right there.

That .... is a scary thought. I think the percentages are in favor of these forks being bad more so than good. Maybe some are even out there that aren't aware of their forks being messed up. Thank goodness I won't have to concern myself with this problem anymore. Being covered under warranty is fine n dandy but a potential accident due to oil leaking all over your front end and on to your front tires as well as the hassle of dealing with this as often as some of us have had to is a big deal.

If you don't feel a difference between adjusters fully open and fully closed they're busted.

Bad news , brough my base to let my local dealer have a look.
Their vedict is rebound busted. They Put me in line for a new pair... 1 month lead time

blown cartridges....

i ve always wondered how good a combination of two brands can be when setting up a suspension..

I see them go back to Showa shortly. the 899 shows how good they are and can be. Especially for those who want their bike to behave on a regular trackday.

As many know from the 916 days, Showa can do just that...

it will also take away this 'i ve got Ohlins but they're still not the right Ohlinses' kind of feeling... and frankly, they either go full electrionics a la Multistrada or dump the DES.. it s just a lot of wiring for the replacement of a spanner..

good luck on the Marz...

Blown cartridges will not cause oil to leak externally from the fork, only blown fork SEALS will do that. Most common cause of blown fork seals: Impact. Either dropping down harshly from a wheelie or hitting a sharp object in the road. Or in the case of the last time I blew one, it was going off the track at high speed and hitting a berm and going airborn. Ha ha!

And I'm bettin' blown seals was the worst of your worries!:D

Well yeah, the worst part was that I was heading through wet grass at 70 mph going right towards another part of the track where I'd be crossing into head-on traffic! Luckily I was able to get it slowed and turned enough to stay off the track surface, made my way back around to the pit exit and proceeded to go change my shorts!
