Marzocchi Forks

Ducati Forum

Help Support Ducati Forum:

I've got close to 8,000 miles on mine and the front is now starting to show signs of failing, for awhile I thought I was one if the lucky ones

No "probably" to it. I know of at least one base with 8500 miles on it that doesn't/hasn't had the problem (mine). It's a '12 (July 2012 build date).

If it happens, then I'll get it fixed under warranty. If the warranty has run out then I'll look at alternatives.

If I'm worried about suspension, I'd first look at upgrading the rear. The Marzocchi's are pretty good. The Sachs is marginal. That would be the first place I'd put suspension money (I'm partial to Penske's).

Agree entirely, when working, the forks are good. The shock is a POS, replaced mine with a TTX, like day and night.

I went to the dealer in Ljubljana this morning, they have no staff, a lot of bikes and one sales guy, but then they are the VW dealer first, why do Ducati do that to us, always the same out here some guy with money goes and buys the dealership who has no idea what a bike is! In the end after being ignored for an hour I went home and contacted the UK dealer to ask him to call Ducati to find me a place to get my bike fixed, and this is main land Europe!
when I bought this it was between 1198sp, S1000rr MVF4 or this, problem is with any of them the service would be the same. take the BMW dealer, they have a little corner for the bikes, I want a proper bike dealer not some car dealer with a bike side line. So much for world wide warranty.

Ducati customer service called me this morning after i sent them an email last night, asked me what was wrong with the dealer in Ljubljana, read about my answer above, I asked them if they would phone the dealer in Trieste to brief them on my problem so I could load the bike up and go there, they said that they can't call the dealer, I asked why, simple request after all, just said she can't, no reason and said that it would be a personal favor and she can't do that ether! So she told me to call them but I said normally a language problem, so she said call if there is a problem let them know by email........but.....she don't know what she can do if there is! So whats the point of Ducati customer service except to waste my time.
I did call the dealer in Trieste and luckily the guy was decent and spoke English and I will go the tomorrow (cost a pile of money, fuel road tolls time etc), so I have a ducati dealer 5 minutes away from my house but I have to travel an hour and go to anther country to get (maybe get) some service!
Maybe should start a new thread "customer service"

Just move back to the UK! Loads of Ducati dealers here, some good ones and some crap ones and some with a chip on their shoulders against anyone who has not bought their Ducati from them lol.

Good point, but I got the Adriatic coast, the Alps, Italy, Austria,Croatia, Hungary in an hour and summer weather (no rain) Good riding out this way from March till October!, Worse come to worse the Ducati factory i only down the road 4 hours.
But I think this RS-MOTO in Trieste sound OK!

Good for you! Now get some Ohlins NIX30 or Bitubo ECH-29 inserts and put those new Marzocchi cartridges aside for when you sell the bike.

Got the Ohlins kit on a shelf waiting to be fitted, thing is the Marcs are pretty damn good when they're working, so I never got around to have the work done.

Thing is I won't track it, if I did would have bought the s, If I did the Ohlins work then it would just be a street cred attempt and I'm bit old old for that leave that to the my kids!

If I did track it what would I gain, the experience would be the same, Ok in a race second or two maybe) but how many of us race, then you need something more in any case.

If Marzocchi's stay working then I was happy when I bought it with them, I would be OK with them now, if they fail in a couple of years then of course got to buy something else cause they fail.

I have to say I'm happy I got one and don't ride lesser bikes and I not a top rider just one who enjoy's, when it stops bouncing any way!
But I do take note of JeffD, Cheers!

does 2013 bike with marzocchi fork have trouble ? or only 2012

if these fork are not reliable and dangerous why there is no service letter ?
I dont want to crash and hurt myself because of those not reliable fork

Early 2013s as well going on this thread note fireman1251 he has new forks under warranty and is a happy man, I don't think that Ducats know there is a problem because there are few reports and I and others have only checked because of the forum, other than that I would have not found a problem until summer, mine is a12 bike but registered 13 I bought in November with 1000 miles on, properly the previous owner go shot of it because it didn't handle, funny it had band new tyres on when I got it! There should be service bulletin for dealers to check all bike because mine was dangerous to ride, even my wife said don't Dick around buy new forks because the dealers were denying the problem and I was getting frustrated.

This works for me, and the bike does not move.

There should definitely be a recall on these forks! It's a well known problem and they replaced dozens of units. As a matter of fact, Ducati wants every set they can get their hands on because Marzocchi is a supplier and will take the entire hit on this.

going to pick it up tomorrow, new forks fitted, wish me luck dudes and dudesses!!!!

There you go! This will be a distant memory by Christmas!

Thanks to you and this forum, because I guess I would have found out this summer and lost a lot of riding time, bear in mind this bike though new in April 13 had two owners before me, wonder why??? I guess they thought the bike was a maniac and thats that!
I will start up a new thread on the story of the service on this cause the boys in Trieste deserve a good rap for their help and others deserve a kicking.
Also not that changed the run switch wiring as a Ducati fix, maybe check yours!

So I have new forks and new wiring, Thanks fireman1251 and forum.

Took the bike to the dealer exactly 2 weeks ago... Was told they would replace my forks, Still have not heard a word on exact date service will be preformed? I'm kinda annoyed... Should I go and raise hell? what's been the time table for some of you guys who have been through this?
