"As a piece of exotica, it's worth every penny, if you're lucky enough to have the cash - it's beautiful, exciting and involving. The chassis and engine mods will be a must for top teams in superbike and superstock, too, but the R doesn't feel different enough to warrant trading up from your Panigale S or Tricolore."

Check out our full report and video in next week's MCN.

it states that it is not different enough to trade in an S or Tri... that is a financial decision.. and again speaks so much of the level of the S..

not surprised in the least. but, I wouldn't be bummed on owing one. Still happy w/ my base... but that's not the point.

We covered this already:

Base - is the bike..
S - LED headlights, electronic Ohlins suspension, CF front mudguard, lighter/different wheels
Tri - same as S, but with fancy paint job, Termi slips and DDA+
R - same as S, but with fancy paint job, full Termi exhaust, adjustable swing arm, a dozen carbon fiber bits to reduce weight, ti con rods, a lighter flywheel, DDA+ and 500 more RPMs to redline/more HP

Ground Hog day. You shoulda stopped at "Base is the bike", the rest is just bling!

i wouldn't be faster around the track with an R.

but with may base, when i add the white stripes ;)

You would be. Despite what you read on paper, the R feels like an S with a race motor in it. ~3 lbs less rotating weight in the engine is a MASSIVE difference! Pulls through the gears faster and makes gear selection not nearly as critical as the S/Base.

i'd like to give it a try. my 1199 is geared 14/39 = 0.358 vs. the R 15/41 = 0.365 so it might get close. but 1500 g less rotational weight is massive, indeed.

awesome pictures BTW!

Why are you so full of angst??? You see the title of the thread.. just don't click on it...

It's 2013...learn how to use the ....... internet, little Billy. It's always better to post in an existing thread than to start a new one.

3 months from now when someone joins and searches for information on the 1199R, they are going to find 200 different threads. Retarded.
