It's 2013...learn how to use the ....... internet, little Billy. It's always better to post in an existing thread than to start a new one.

3 months from now when someone joins and searches for information on the 1199R, they are going to find 200 different threads. Retarded.

Angst indeed.... Oh well... Happy Friday...

as good as thread as any to say it.....i agree with Frosty. the absolute crap that gets posted in this specific forum really takes away from the portal itself. i'll leave it at that.

peace,

Yea, real peaceful thread this one! Have a great weekend!! If anyone in downtown Chicago is interested in a ride tomorrow, let me know - I'll meet you at the local Starbucks in my SUV.

Iv'e been known to post without searching first simply because I dont want to wade through pages of ........ before I find a thread that MIGHT have my answer I'm looking for. Besides if I want to ask a question about something specific then chances are there are others that are wondering the exact same thing. Screw the search button Nazis...

Sort of back on topic..
But is it just me.. or does it seem that MCN and a few other rags have hidden agendas?
Seems to me honest reviews are becoming as rare as hens teeth.
I'd trust AH review over any of these other muppets any day.

I'm no genius, but a shorter final drive + significantly lower rotating mass would most definitely make a world of difference to how a bike rides and feel.
I haven't ridden an R, but I would imagine the difference in performance would be much much greater than Base/S/Tri. (Is there a performance variance between the original 3?)

As for Base vs S argument, I doubt there is any performance difference. I just like the ability to easily change my setup for different riding conditions. :D and I like Ohlins Gold :D and LEDs and Chicken feet :D

There's a Starbucks in my building. Let me know if you will have time to stop by for a coffee.

You would be. Despite what you read on paper, the R feels like an S with a race motor in it. ~3 lbs less rotating weight in the engine is a MASSIVE difference! Pulls through the gears faster and makes gear selection not nearly as critical as the S/Base.

I agree and I felt it. It was the first thing I noticed. And I know because I had an S.

This is exactly what I thought, if you are going racing you are much better off with an R.

And if you are not a racer and simply want an R then go for it. If I had waited I would have got an R, since I have an S I can't justify the trade up. Anyway, I am still a very happy guy.

Good luck to all you Pani raiders whatever you have.

It is a glorious weekend here in Oz so I am off for a ride all weekend, cheers.

Why does there have to be any justification at all other than getting the bike YOU want?

.... journal biased reviews, .... random opinion, .... anyone who says one is better or lesser than another.

Get the bike you want and ....... ride the .... out of it.

I know I ....... am!

Who cares...life is short and if you worked hard for your money and have the desire to get what you want, go for it

Sometimes the biggest critics of any new/updated car or bike are the owners of the previous model year. They don't want to feel as though their machine is outdated. IMO none of the 1199 models will feel dated for a long time! Best sportbikes on the market!

If I really wanted the R, I would take some lost and trade in my S and get it. I just think Panigale is all around great bike but personally, the R does not have "enough" differences to take "lost" or spend more money. Dont get me wrong, I think the R is a great bike and Base also. I just think S fits ME just right.

Hell, if R had much more or differences like Desmo RR did, I would not get it because I wouldnt be able to afford it anyway! :D unless I won a lotto and have $60-80k to throw around.
