MCN stated 1199R doesnt feel different enough

If I really wanted the R, I would take some lost and trade in my S and get it. I just think Panigale is all around great bike but personally, the R does not have "enough" differences to take "lost" or spend more money. Dont get me wrong, I think the R is a great bike and Base also. I just think S fits ME just right.

Hell, if R had much more or differences like Desmo RR did, I would not get it because I wouldnt be able to afford it anyway! :D unless I won a lotto and have $60-80k to throw around.

I agree. If I already had a base or S I'm not sure I'd get the R since I do more street riding than track days. However, since I don't yet have an 1199 the R is calling my name the loudest! :D

I agree... there's not $3K difference between the two let alone the $5K that it actually is.

And the funny thing is the base is 6 pounds lighter. The extra bling is nice but truth be told 95% of the riders out there would not be any faster on an S than the base.

Sometimes the biggest critics of any new/updated car or bike are the owners of the previous model year. They don't want to feel as though their machine is outdated. IMO none of the 1199 models will feel dated for a long time! Best sportbikes on the market!

EXACTLY....well said!

Is topic is MEH at best. Just feel blessed that you can afford to one of these machines, any model. Enjoy your ride, lads!

Good point! There are bucket loads of people out there that ride bikes and that would give their left nut to own a Ducati. Base..S...Tri..R..whatever, we are pretty lucky to own the coolest bike on the market...burnt ass or not!

I'm not really interested since I have the Panigale 'Leggero' (Base non ABS, Lightweight) model. If I had a BaseABS, S, or Tri, I may be tempted. :D

thats what I keep saying. I hate when people become eltists and ungrateful for what they have. lets be honest most owning something in the Tri-color and "r" models keep them garaged and more of a status toy and brag factor.

I already did many of the upgrades on my S that the R's got. Full Termi, DP tall windshield, race seat, CF bits all over... Etc.

The R (according to reports) has much faster response in the mid RPM range, which I feel the current engine lacks. I also wished the current engine had another 1000rpm at the top but the R offers 500 more(not bad at all). Like most have said... Not enough difference to make it a no brainer but there are just enough changes in the engine that keeps me interested. I'm stressed over this decision. Common sense tells me not to upgrade but the devil inside me wants me to swap my S for the R. There's only one coming to Chile for the next few months.

I'm leaning towards the R... Dang!

I am the only one with the Panigale in my town, including few around me. I work in the country right now. :(

Non-bikers and bikers of all kinds are just :eek::eek: when I ride by or when its parked while I am eating something. I feel lucky to have this bike and I am super happy for what it does. I am no where pro level to use its max capacity anyway.

i 'm glad to have concluded early on that whils on paper the changes seem small, the combination of all of them make quit a difference.

it's like changing a businessplan in a spreadsheet. if you change 10 givens only slightly, the result can go from 1 to 3...

i'm so glad i went for the R. apart from budget, not having ABS in combo with the TCS on these bikes is - imho - a major mistake.. tires stick much more, power has exploded, brakes are getting fiercer. So the margin for human error get's smaller. when the tires let go, what then? i'm so glad i got myself every and any electronic help to keep things in shape and line! :) and for where i'm heading, the R as a base is decision easily made...
and this has little to do with the money aspect..

I'm very curious to hear what the price will be in Canada and I'm waiting to hear back from my sales guy...hopefully today. I don't "need" it, but I am entrigued. However, they wanted 32k last spring for a Tri...which just about blew my socks off.
What happens to many of us, is this. Most base model litre bikes are more than enough for the strong percentage of us. Budget sometimes dictates trying to save a few dollars. Then after awhile..you sometimes wish you would have ponied up for the extra bling. It's not that you need it..but lots of us end up wanting it.It sucks regretting down the road on a major purchase. It's not that you don't love what you have..it's just a maybe I shoulda.
I just went through that with my Aprilia purchase. It was a new, but left over 2010 RSV4 Factory...wicked friggin bike. However when i went to the dealer that day, I went to purchase The R model..had no intent on the Factory. Both deals were wicked, but with the factory sitting there and only a few thousand more, I jumped on it and am glad I did. With my Panigale,I had been on the waiting list on an S but they could not give me an honest answer on when they could get me one.I hate waiting and wondering. I couldn't even get an answer on when I could get a base either.I was at the dealer at the right time when the sales guy came up and told me the guy's financing fell through on the base ABS and it was mine for the taking...i jumped on it. So, it's sort of a double edged sword.I'm thrilled I got the extra bling on the RSV4, but am not really sad I didn't on the Panigale.I honestly don't think I could exploit any advantage out of an S model performance wise, but the extra bling would be cool and had an S been there,I likely would have jumped. I'm guessing the R model in Alberta is gonna be 36-38k to get it out the door. There's lots of money here and they know someone will cough up. At that price, it's just too much for me, but if it was low 30's I'd strongly consider it.

I'm sure most of you know, but the R model on the Aprilia is the base model. My post wouldn't make any sense if one was thinking the R was the top model..haha

~$34,500 out the door in Alberta, Argyll in Edmonton has 6 coming, 4 were spoken for as of yesterday. Calgary lost its Ducati dealership last month so no bikes coming through there...

Argyll is my dealer and I contacted Jason to let me know. 4 gone already...wow! I guess the Calgary fiasco had to do with Ducati demanding a stand alone building and or area for the Ducati's along with some other demands and they got told to get stuffed. Supposedly there's a done deal with someone else in Calgary, but it's not Blackfoot as they were not interested in the demands either. This is what I had heard..not sure the full monty of it. $34500 out the door...hmmmm.

Screw it, just put my deposit down. It's retarded overkill for me and my base satisfies every thing I can throw at it...but I have to have that R :D
